The tangle problem

Cable clutter is rarely one big cable; it is twelve small ones. Router leads, extension strips, speaker wire, TV peripherals, a doorbell transformer feed, the laptop charger that lives by the sofa — each is harmless alone, and together they make a room look unfinished. Cable management is the remedy, and it is a job of small decisions: which route each lead takes, what holds it there, and what the result looks like from where you actually sit. Done well, it makes a room feel calmer without a single hole in the wall.

How we tidy routes

We start by looking at what is actually there and where it needs to go, because tidying cables you never unplug is wasted work. Then each run gets an approach that fits it: small clips along a skirting or picture rail for a single lead, slim trunking where several cables travel together, ties and wraps to bundle parallel runs, and covers where a lead crosses a floor or doorway edge. The aim is always the same balance — out of the way, held securely, and still possible to unplug or replace a device without dismantling the lot. Where cables meet furniture, we route behind rather than through, and leave enough slack for drawers and doors to open.

Materials and what is supplied

The bits matter less than the plan, but they are not nothing: the right clip size for the cable, trunking that matches the wall colour, and fixings that suit the surface. Some runs need nothing but re-routing and a few ties; others justify a length of paintable trunking. If materials are needed beyond what you have on hand, we identify them and quote them separately — we would rather agree the small spend than fit whatever happens to be in the van. Nothing is assumed: tell us if you already have clips or trunking you would like used, and we will work with them where they suit.

What cable management is not

It is not electrical work. We route and secure the leads, but we do not alter sockets, extend circuits or open up an electrical installation — changes to wiring belong to a qualified electrician. It is also not wall chasing or burying cable, which is invasive work done under different rules. And it is not a claim about hidden things: where any fixing is needed, we consider what lies behind the surface — a detector helps narrow it down, but no scan guarantees what is hidden — and we never drill blind. If a route would cross a socket spur or pipework, we adjust the path rather than risk it.

Where this work really earns its keep

Some spots benefit more than others. Behind a TV unit, where a nest of leads meets a wall-mounted screen. Along a home-office wall, where desk cables run to a single socket. Stair walls carrying a doorbell or alarm cabling. Rental homes, where non-invasive tidying is the only kind allowed. And anywhere a lead crosses a walkway — a trailing cable is a trip hazard as much as an eyesore, and clipping it back is a safety improvement, not just a cosmetic one.

Aftercare

Good cable management should need nothing from you for years. Check occasionally that clips are still holding, especially on warmer runs near electronics, and re-seat trunking lids after any device change. If you rearrange the room, the routes can usually be extended or adjusted rather than redone — that is the point of choosing removable, non-invasive methods in the first place.

Booking

Same-day slots may be available for a quick tidy, and planned visits suit whole-room or multi-room runs. You pay a booking fee on booking, labour is charged hourly at a rate that depends on how soon you need the visit, and the full cost is quoted and approved before work starts. Clips, trunking and other materials are identified and quoted separately where they are needed.

How the price works

We charge a booking fee to hold your slot, then an hourly rate for the work itself. The fee changes with how soon you need us; the hourly rate changes with the slot you choose. You approve the price before we start, so there is no surprise on the invoice.

We diagnose on site

The engineer confirms the cause and tells you what the job involves and how long it should take.

3

You approve, we work

Nothing goes ahead until you agree the price. Labour is then charged per hour at your slot rate.

Cables multiply quietly. A router here, a speaker there, a charger by the sofa — and suddenly every skirting board has a loop of black wire hanging off it. Wall cable management puts routes in order with clips, ties, covers and small trunking runs, keeping everything reachable but out of sight.

Questions people ask about wall cable management

Straight answers to the things customers ask most often before booking.

Can I sort my own cables out?

Absolutely — much cable management is within reach of anyone with a spare afternoon. What a visit adds is the routing plan: which leads to keep, the path that looks tidy from where you sit, and materials that will actually hold. If your run needs any fixing into an unknown wall, having someone check what is behind first avoids a nasty surprise.

What do you do during a cable management visit?

We review the cables and where they need to run, agree which routes to tidy, and secure each one with the method that suits — clips, ties, slim trunking or covers. We leave everything accessible so devices can still be unplugged, and we quote any materials separately before fitting them.

Can you put the cables inside the wall?

Not by default — in-wall routing is invasive and only happens where access is agreed and the wall is suitable, and it never involves touching electrical wiring. Burying or altering mains circuits is electrician work. The standard approach is surface methods: trunking, clips and covers that hold cables neatly and can be removed without damage.

Will you need to drill my walls?

Usually not — most management is done with adhesive clips, ties and surface trunking. Where a fixing is needed, we check the wall and what may be hidden behind it first; a detector helps but cannot promise what is concealed, so we verify before drilling and never drill blind.

How is this priced?

You pay a booking fee on booking, and hourly labour at a rate that depends on how soon you need the visit — a simple tidy is a short job. The full cost is quoted and approved before work starts, and any clips, trunking or covers needed are identified and quoted separately as materials.
