When adjustment is all you need

Not every TV problem needs a remount. If the screen has crept out of level, the tilt has sagged, the arm no longer holds its position, or you have rearranged the room and the viewing angle is wrong, the bracket itself is usually fine — it just needs to be re-set. Adjustment is quick, low-impact work: we work on the bracket and its joints with the screen in place wherever that is safe, and put everything back to where it should be. It is also the right call when the alternative is dismantling something that is not broken.

What we adjust

The details vary by bracket, but the usual suspects are familiar. Tilt joints slacken over time, especially on heavier screens, so the panel slowly noses downward; we re-tension them to hold the angle you choose. Pivot and swivel points can stiffen, drift or swing too freely, and we adjust their friction so the screen stays where you put it. Level is corrected at the bracket-to-plate fixing, and where the design allows we re-square the panel against the wall. If the bracket has height settings on a rail, we can move the screen up or down within the rail's range. Throughout, we follow the bracket manufacturer's instructions and use the right tools on the right fastenings — over-tightening a plastic joint is how adjustable brackets break.

What we check while we are there

Adjustment is a good moment to look at the bigger picture. While we are at the bracket we will check that the wall plate still feels solid, that the fixings have not worked loose, and that nothing about the screen-to-bracket connection looks worn. If we find something beyond adjustment — a wall plate that shifts, fixings that will not hold, cracking around the mount — we will stop, explain what we have found and quote the repair separately rather than adjust around a fault.

When adjustment is not enough

There are limits worth being honest about. A bracket whose joints are stripped, cracked or worn beyond re-tensioning needs replacement, not adjustment. A screen that keeps dropping back out of position may have a fatigued joint that will only get worse, and we would rather tell you that than take money for a temporary tweak. And if the real issue is where the screen is on the wall — too high, too far left, wrong wall entirely — that is a remount, which is a different, longer job we can quote if you want it.

A small job, a real difference

This is a short visit, and we price it that way. But it makes a noticeable difference to daily use: a screen that stays at the angle you set, sits level on the wall, and no longer needs a nudge every few weeks. It is also the cheapest point in a bracket's life to catch a developing fault, which is why we build the check into the visit.

A quick word before we come

Tell us what has changed when you book — the screen drifting, the tilt sagging, the room rearranged — and the bracket's make if you know it. There is no need to take anything down beforehand; the adjustment is done with the screen in place wherever that is safe. Just clear enough space in front of the wall to work comfortably, and have the remote to hand so we can check the picture angle from your usual seat rather than by eye alone.

Booking

Same-day slots may be available for a quick adjustment, and planned visits are easy to arrange around a working day. You pay a booking fee on booking, labour is charged hourly at a rate that depends on how soon you need the visit, and the full cost is quoted and approved before we start. If the check turns up a fault that needs parts — replacement fixings, a new bracket — those are identified and quoted separately before any further work happens.

How the price works

We charge a booking fee to hold your slot, then an hourly rate for the work itself. The fee changes with how soon you need us; the hourly rate changes with the slot you choose. You approve the price before we start, so there is no surprise on the invoice.

1

Book the slot

Choose the window that suits you and pay the booking fee. That holds your place in the diary.

2

We diagnose on site

The engineer confirms the cause and tells you what the job involves and how long it should take.

3

You approve, we work

Nothing goes ahead until you agree the price. Labour is then charged per hour at your slot rate.

Screens drift. A bracket loosens a fraction over months, a house settles, or the tilt you set in summer no longer suits where the sofa now sits. Adjustment is the small, sensible fix — rebalancing and re-levelling the bracket you already have, without taking the whole thing off the wall.

Questions people ask about tv bracket adjustment

Straight answers to the things customers ask most often before booking.

Can I adjust the bracket myself?

Often yes — many brackets have accessible tilt and swivel adjustments, and the instructions usually cover them. The risks are over-tightening a plastic joint and missing something structural behind the movement, such as a loose wall plate. If the screen keeps sagging or the bracket feels wrong, a visit is the better call.

What do you do during an adjustment visit?

We re-tension the tilt and swivel joints, re-level the screen, and set the angle to where you want it, following the bracket manufacturer's instructions. While we are there we check the wall plate and fixings are still sound, and tell you plainly if we find anything that adjustment cannot fix.

Why does my screen keep dropping forward?

Usually the tilt joint has lost friction, either through wear or because it was never fully tightened for the screen's weight. We can often re-tension it, but if the joint is worn out it will keep dropping, and we will tell you if replacement is the realistic fix rather than sell you an adjustment that will not last.

Do you take the TV off the wall to adjust it?

Normally not — most adjustments are done with the screen in place, which is quicker and avoids re-hanging it. If the bracket needs a joint stripped down or a fixing replaced behind the screen, we may need to lift it off briefly, and for a large screen that may mean a second pair of hands, which we would flag when booking.

What does an adjustment visit cost?

You pay a booking fee when you book, and labour is hourly with a rate that depends on how soon you need the visit — an adjustment is a short visit, and we price it accordingly. The full cost is quoted and approved before work starts, and any parts the check reveals are quoted separately.
