Brick is strong — if you fix into it properly
Solid masonry is the most dependable substrate for a TV mount, but "solid" is doing a lot of work in that sentence. The strength lives in the brick and mortar mass, and only reaches the bracket through plugs and anchors that are the right type, the right length and set properly. A fix that is too shallow, in a mortar joint rather than the brick, or over-torqued into a crumbling spot can hold for a while and then creep. So the job is less about brute force and more about doing the familiar steps properly: assess, mark, drill, anchor, check.
What we assess first
We establish the wall is what it appears to be — solid brick, not a dry-lined masonry wall or a block-and-render partition that behaves differently. Then we look at where the bracket will land. Brick walls hide more than people expect: chimney breasts contain old flues, walls around fireplaces can have rubble-filled voids, and horizontal runs of buried cable and pipe are common wherever sockets and radiators have been added over the years. We check for these signs before drilling, and where we use a detector it helps narrow down what is behind the surface — but no scan guarantees the absence of hidden services, so we verify and never drill blind. If a proposed fixing point sits over a suspect area, we move the bracket rather than risk it.
Drilling and fixing the right way
Masonry wants the right tools and the right hardware. We drill with the correct bit size and depth for the anchors being used — not a near-miss hole that lets the plug spin — keep the holes square so the bracket sits flush, and blow the dust out before setting plugs, because packed dust is the most common reason a masonry fixing feels tight and grips weakly. The anchors match the substrate and the load, and the bracket is tightened to hold firm without crushing the masonry. Once the plate is on, we pull-check it for movement before the screen is anywhere near it.
Matching bracket and load
A solid wall forgives a lot, but a mismatched bracket still causes trouble: one rated below the screen's weight works its joints loose, and one with a fixing pattern that misses the solid courses is a nuisance. You normally supply the TV and bracket unless we have agreed otherwise, and we check both against the wall — including whether the supplied plugs are actually suitable, because bracket boxes often include generic anchors that are not right for every wall. If fixings need upgrading, we will say so and quote them separately rather than fit what is in the box out of optimism.
Chimney breasts deserve special care
A chimney breast is a favourite TV wall, and often a good one — but it is the most complicated part of a brick wall. Behind the plaster may be a flue, a boxed-out void or a filled cavity, and mounting on the breast's face versus its reveal are different jobs. We assess what is actually there before proposing a fixing position, and if the breast has structural cracking or a history of works we cannot see, we will recommend a specialist look before anything is drilled. Better an honest referral than a bracket in a flue.
Aftercare
A masonry fixing, done properly, should never move. If the bracket develops play, if dust appears around the fixings, or if a crack grows from a hole, have it looked at — those are signs the fixing or the wall needs attention, and early is cheaper. Keep the bracket instructions for future adjustments, and if you ever redecorate, avoid hammering plugs back into old holes without checking them.
Booking
Same-day slots may be available, and planned visits suit chimney breast jobs and anything needing hardware decisions. You pay a booking fee on booking, labour is charged hourly at a rate that depends on how soon you need the visit, and the full cost is quoted and approved before work starts. Fixings, plugs or a better-suited bracket are identified and quoted separately as materials.
How the price works
We charge a booking fee to hold your slot, then an hourly rate for the work itself. The fee changes with how soon you need us; the hourly rate changes with the slot you choose. You approve the price before we start, so there is no surprise on the invoice.

You approve, we work
Nothing goes ahead until you agree the price. Labour is then charged per hour at your slot rate.
Brick is the wall people trust for a TV mount, and rightly so — when the fixings are right. Drilled with the wrong bit, plugged with the wrong anchor, or drilled into a hidden flue or cable run, even a solid wall lets you down. We assess, then drill, then fix — in that order.

Questions people ask about tv mount on brick wall
Straight answers to the things customers ask most often before booking.
Is brick the best wall for a TV mount?
Usually, yes — solid masonry gives the most dependable fixings when the work is done properly. But it is not automatic: the anchors must suit the wall, the fixings must land in brick rather than weak mortar, and hidden flues or cables must be avoided. A solid wall mounted badly is no safer than a plasterboard wall mounted well.
What do you check before drilling into brick?
We confirm the wall really is solid masonry, probe for hidden services such as buried cables, pipework and chimney flues, and check the bracket and plugs suit the load. Fixing positions are chosen to avoid mortar joints and suspect areas, and nothing is drilled until we are satisfied the point is safe.
Can you mount a TV on a chimney breast?
Often, yes — but with more care than a plain wall, because chimney breasts can contain flues, voids and filled cavities behind the plaster. We assess what is actually there before proposing a position. If there is structural cracking or anything we cannot account for, we will recommend a specialist inspection first rather than drill.
Should I use the plugs that came with my bracket?
Not necessarily — bracket boxes are supplied with generic anchors that suit common masonry, but not every wall, length or load. We check what came in the box against your wall and screen weight, and if better fixings are needed we quote them separately rather than fit whatever is to hand.
What does brick wall TV mounting cost?
You pay a booking fee on booking, and hourly labour at a rate that depends on how soon you need the visit. The full cost is quoted and approved before work starts. If the job needs upgraded anchors, a different plug type or other materials, those are identified and quoted separately.
