A built-in appliance is only as good as the cavity it goes into. Manufacturers specify dimensions, ventilation gaps and service access for a reason, and an appliance squeezed into a space that does not meet them will run hot, vibrate, or fail early. The job is not simply sliding it in: it is confirming the housing is suitable, the supply is right, the door or drawer swings clear and air can move where it needs to.
Checking the cavity first
Before anything is unpacked, the opening is measured against the maker's figures: height, width and depth, plus the clearance behind and above. Cabinet panels are often out of square, shelf fixings intrude, and a plinth can reduce the usable depth. Ventilation matters more than people expect — many built-in appliances draw air in at the base and expel it at the rear or top, and blocking either path causes overheating. Where a housing has no ventilation route, we will say so rather than fit the appliance and hope.
The supply and connection
Built-in appliances are usually connected to an existing socket, often one that is hard to reach once the unit is in place. We check that the socket is sound, that the plug is accessible or that the appliance is designed for a switched connection, and that the fuse rating matches the load. Where a water supply is needed — coffee machines, some wine coolers with humidity control — we connect to an existing compatible supply only. We do not install new circuits, add sockets or run new pipework as part of this visit.
Fitting, levelling and securing
The appliance goes in with its feet or brackets adjusted so it sits level and the door or drawer aligns with the cabinetry. Fixings are used as the maker specifies; some appliances require screws into the cabinet sides, others rely on brackets or a plinth. Hinges on integrated doors need adjusting so the door swings without fouling and closes flush. Cables are routed so they are not trapped, kinked or resting against a hot surface, and the appliance is pushed back only as far as the ventilation clearance allows.
Testing and handover
Once in place, the appliance is powered and run through its functions, with any water system primed as instructed. We check for vibration against the cabinetry, unusual noise, heat at the plug and correct door alignment. Then we explain the maintenance the model needs: filter changes, condenser cleaning, water tank care, and the clearances that must not be blocked by stored items.
When the housing is not suitable
Sometimes the honest answer is that the cavity does not meet the specification, the ventilation cannot be achieved without cabinet alteration, or the appliance needs a dedicated supply that does not exist. In those cases we explain what would be required and who should do it. We do not cut down cabinets, alter fixed wiring or modify worktops as part of an appliance setup visit, and we will not force an appliance into a space that will make it overheat.
Safety and scope
Appliances are isolated before any connection work and tested afterwards. Heavy units are handled with proper support — a built-in microwave or wine cooler is not a one-person lift onto a worktop. Gas appliances are outside our scope entirely, and any gas connection must be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
Booking
Book online with the appliance make and model, the cavity dimensions if you have them, and photographs of the space. The booking fee is paid when you book, and the hourly labour rate depends on how soon you need the visit. The full cost is quoted and approved before work starts, and any parts are quoted separately.
How the price works
We charge a booking fee to hold your slot, then an hourly rate for the work itself. The fee changes with how soon you need us; the hourly rate changes with the slot you choose. You approve the price before we start, so there is no surprise on the invoice.

You approve, we work
Nothing goes ahead until you agree the price. Labour is then charged per hour at your slot rate.
Fitting an appliance into a housing is where good intentions meet millimetres, ventilation gaps and a socket in the wrong place. Whether it is a built-in microwave, a wine cooler, a coffee machine in a column or an integrated appliance behind a cabinet door, the maker's clearances and the existing services decide whether the installation works. We check all of it before anything is fixed in place.

Exactly what was quoted
What I appreciated was being told what was actually wrong before anyone started. Sorted in under 27 minutes and the invoice matched the quote to the penny.
Job: Tumble Dryer Not Starting Cycle
Good job, slightly late
Solid work. Hourly rate feels fair for the amount of work involved and everything was tested before they left. Would book again.
Job: Toaster Not Working
No mess left behind
Really straightforward. It had been bothering us for weeks; diagnosed properly, fixed the same visit, and the price was exactly what was explained when booking. Can not fault it.

Questions people ask about built-in appliance setup
Straight answers to the things customers ask most often before booking.
Can I fit a built-in appliance myself?
Some integrated appliances are within reach for a confident DIYer, but the clearances, ventilation and door alignment are where mistakes happen. If the housing is tight, the socket is unreachable or a water connection is involved, a visit is the safer choice.
What is checked before fitting?
The cavity's height, width and depth against the maker's specification, ventilation routes, the condition of the existing socket and its fuse rating, service access, and whether the door or drawer will swing clear. Measurements are taken before the appliance is unpacked.
Will you alter the cabinet to make it fit?
No. This is an appliance setup visit, not a cabinet modification. If the housing does not meet the specification, we will explain what alteration is needed so you can arrange it separately.
The old appliance was hard-wired. Can you swap it?
If the new appliance is designed for a plug and a suitable socket exists, yes. If it requires a fixed connection or a new circuit, that is electrical work outside this visit and we will tell you before starting.
What will it cost?
The booking fee is paid when you book, and the hourly labour rate depends on how soon you need the visit. We quote the full cost and you approve it before work begins, with any parts identified and priced separately.
