Weeding is the job everyone underestimates. Pulling the visible growth takes minutes; getting the actual plant out takes knowledge, patience and a decent fork. A garden that has slipped behind for a season or two usually has several generations of weeds queued up — annuals seeding everywhere, perennials spreading underground, and brambles and creeping buttercup eyeing the gaps. This visit is about turning that around properly rather than cosmetically.
Knowing your enemy
Different weeds need different approaches, and using the wrong one is why so many gardens seem to get worse after a big weeding session. Annual weeds like groundsel and chickweed die if pulled before they seed. Perennials are the stubborn ones — dandelion, dock, thistle and nettle regrow from deep taproots, while bindweed, creeping buttercup and ground elder spread from runners and root fragments, so every piece left behind is a new plant. Then there are the bullies: bramble, ivy and Bramble's cousin the self-seeded sycamore, which need cutting back and digging or repeated cutting to exhaust the root. We identify what you actually have before deciding how to tackle it.
How we clear them
Most of our work is physical: digging out taproots completely, teasing bindweed and ground elder roots out of beds a section at a time, cutting brambles back to the stump, and raking out weed seedlings from gravel and paths. Where a weedkiller is genuinely the right tool — for example against deep-rooted perennial weeds in the middle of a lawn — we will use one correctly and in season, but we do not promise results from chemicals: weather, timing and the species involved decide the outcome, and some infestations simply need repeat visits. Where we do not think a treatment will help, we say so and save you the money.
Stopping the next generation
Clearing today's weeds is only half the job; the other half is not inviting them back. That means mulching bare soil so seeds cannot germinate, thickening planting in the gaps weeds love, edging beds so grass and creeping weeds cannot creep in, and dealing with weeds before they flower and seed — one dandelion head is hundreds of next year's plants. We will point out where your garden is actively recruiting weeds, whether that is an unweeded gravel drive, a neighbour's boundary bramble or a patch of soil that never got planted.
Honest limits, plainly stated
Some weeds cannot be beaten in one visit, and we will not pretend otherwise. Bindweed and ground elder are marathons, not sprints — they fade with repeated removal over a season or two, not a single afternoon. If the beds are so far gone that clearing and replanting is cheaper and kinder than fighting, we will say that too and quote a reset as an option. And where weeds are coming from next door, under a fence or off the highway, we can clear your side but we cannot promise what keeps arriving.
Keeping it that way
A properly cleared garden is far easier to maintain than it was to rescue, and fifteen minutes a fortnight will hold the line. If you would rather not spend that quarter-hour, a light regular maintenance visit keeps beds clean without the cost of another big clear-out. We are happy with either — the honest answer is whichever you will actually keep up.
How to book
Book by phone or through the website, and it helps to know roughly how weed-locked the garden is and whether the waste needs taking away — green waste disposal is always agreed in advance and included in the quote. You pay a booking fee when you book, labour is charged hourly at a rate that depends on how soon you need the visit, and the full cost is quoted and approved before we start, with any materials or treatments listed separately.
How the price works
We charge a booking fee to hold your slot, then an hourly rate for the work itself. The fee changes with how soon you need us; the hourly rate changes with the slot you choose. You approve the price before we start, so there is no surprise on the invoice.

You approve, we work
Nothing goes ahead until you agree the price. Labour is then charged per hour at your slot rate.
Weeds rarely arrive overnight; they creep in while the garden is busy elsewhere, and by the time you notice, dandelions have taproots and bindweed has made friends with your roses. Clearing them properly is slower work than it looks, because chopping the tops off just feeds the roots underneath. We do the unglamorous part — getting the roots out — and leave you with a plan that keeps on top of things.
What our customers say about our outdoor & exterior service
4.6 out of 5 from 10 reviews
Sorted the same day
Rang in the morning and they got to us in Wolverhampton by early afternoon. Very clear about what needed doing, what it would cost and what could wait. No pressure to add extras. Exactly the sort of tradesperson you want.
Job: Uneven Shed Base
Turned up when they said
Turned up in the window they promised, walked me through the options (turns out the previous installer had left the pipework awkward to get to), then cracked on. Everything was tested before they left. No mess, no drama, no surprise on the bill.
Job: Water-Damaged Patio
Good work, poor communication
Work itself was fine and tidy. Communication beforehand was patchy — I did not get the confirmation message and had to ring to check the slot. Would still use again.
Job: Sinking Driveway

Questions people ask about weed infestation
Straight answers to the things customers ask most often before booking.
Can I deal with a weed problem myself?
For annual weeds and a few dandelions, absolutely — a fork and a free afternoon go a long way. Deep-rooted perennials, brambles and spreading weeds like bindweed are where DIY weeding usually fails, because fragments left behind simply regrow. If you have tried and it keeps returning, that is usually the sign it is one of the stubborn ones.
What do you check when you look at a weed problem?
We identify the species involved, because the method depends on it — taprooted weeds need complete excavation, spreading weeds need patient removal over time, and seedlings just need hoeing. We also look at why the garden is weed-friendly: bare soil, thin grass, unmulched beds and gaps at boundaries all feed the problem.
Do you guarantee the weeds will not come back?
No, and anyone who promises that is not being straight with you. Seeds blow in, roots regrow from fragments and some weeds genuinely need repeat visits to exhaust. What we do promise is thorough removal of what is there now, an honest plan for the persistent species, and clear advice on what stops them re-establishing.
Will the weeding damage the plants I want to keep?
That is the skill in the job. We work around your garden plants carefully, hand-weed close to favourites, and lift-and-replant only where it is genuinely necessary. Where a desirable plant is completely swamped and tangled with bindweed, we will discuss the options with you before touching it rather than find out afterwards.
How much does a weed clear-out cost?
You pay a booking fee when you book, and labour is charged hourly at a rate that depends on how soon you need the visit. The full cost of the agreed work is quoted and approved before we start, and any mulch, treatments or materials are quoted separately so you can decide what to include.
