The jobs that suit a touch-up visit
A touch-up visit is for the small stuff that accumulates in a lived-in home: nail holes where pictures used to hang, anchor holes from a bracket that has moved on, scuffs and scrapes at skirting height, the dent where the door handle meets the wall, hairline filler cracks from an old repair. It is the job people book at the end of a tenancy, before photographs of a room, or before a viewing — moments when a wall needs to look cared for without a full redecoration.
It is not the job for widespread peeling paint, large areas of blown plaster, damp stains or deep damage. Those need more than a touch-up, and we will say so honestly if that is what we find.
Filling the small stuff
Each hole gets the same treatment as a bigger repair, just scaled down: clean out the dust, press in a fine surface filler with a flat blade, leave it proud rather than hollow, and let it dry properly. Drying time matters even on small fills — filler applied and sanded within the hour can shrink and show as a dimple later, so we respect the product's window. Once dry, everything is sanded lightly back flush with the wall. A light sand, not a polished one: paint grips a slightly textured surface better than a glassy patch.
Touching up the paint
Here is where honesty matters most. Touch-up paint only works if it is the same paint, and even then it can read slightly differently on a repaired patch versus an aged wall around it — paint fades and yellows over time, so a tin from three years ago may not sit invisibly on the wall today. If you have the original tin, or a close match, have it out and ready; we will stir it properly and apply it thinly over the filled spots. If the paint is old and faded, the better result is often a full repaint of that wall edge to edge, and we will tell you that rather than leave a wall covered in slightly-off islands.
We do not colour match on site, and we do not supply paint as standard — touch-up work works on paint you supply and approve. If you would like us to handle decoration more broadly, ask at booking and we will agree the scope separately.
What a touch-up visit is not
It is not a decorating service in miniature: no cutting in whole rooms, no full-wall rolling, no matching a colour from a photo. It is also not a repair of the underlying wall — if filling reveals soft plaster or a damp patch, we stop and explain what we can see, because paint over a problem is a temporary disguise at best. And it is not unlimited: the visit is sized for a set of small repairs across a room or two, not a whole-house refresh; if the list has grown, we will quote it properly rather than rush it.
Preparing the room
Move furniture back from the walls and clear the skirting line so we can work quickly and cleanly. If you have the paint, bring the tin out and give it an idea of which walls matter most — we will work through the list with you on arrival. We sheet up, fill, sand, touch up where agreed, and clean down afterwards; dust from sanding is light, but ventilation helps everything dry faster.
Booking the visit
You pay a booking fee when you book, and the hourly labour rate depends on how soon you need us. The full cost is agreed with you and approved before any work starts, and paint or filler you supply keeps materials out of the equation entirely. Same-day may be available for touch-up visits, which suits end-of-tenancy deadlines. Tell us roughly how many holes and marks you have and whether you have matching paint — those two answers shape the whole visit.
How the price works
We charge a booking fee to hold your slot, then an hourly rate for the work itself. The fee changes with how soon you need us; the hourly rate changes with the slot you choose. You approve the price before we start, so there is no surprise on the invoice.

We diagnose on site
The engineer confirms the cause and tells you what the job involves and how long it should take.
You approve, we work
Nothing goes ahead until you agree the price. Labour is then charged per hour at your slot rate.
Not every wall needs a decorator — sometimes it just needs an hour. Picture-hook holes, scuffs from the vacuum cleaner, a dent behind the door handle: individually nothing, together enough to make a room look tired. We fill and smooth the small damage, and if you have matching paint we can touch it up so the wall looks like itself again.

Questions people ask about minor wall touch-up
Straight answers to the things customers ask most often before booking.
Is this the right job for the end of a tenancy?
It often is — a set of nail holes and scuffs filled and touched up makes a noticeable difference at an inspection or viewing. If the walls need more than touch-ups, such as a full repaint, we will tell you at the visit and that becomes a separate agreed job rather than something rushed into the hour.
What do you actually do on a touch-up visit?
Fill nail holes, anchor holes and small dings with fine surface filler, let each cure properly, sand them back flush and, where you have supplied matching paint and we have agreed it, apply a thin touch-up over the filled spots. We clean down and leave each wall ready for closer inspection.
Why can't you match my paint colour exactly?
Because paint ages on the wall — sunlight, time and cleaning all shift the colour, so even the same brand and shade can read differently years later. We do not colour match on site. If you have the original tin, we will use it; if the wall has faded, a full edge-to-edge repaint of that wall usually gives the better result.
Do I need to supply the paint and filler?
Paint, yes — touch-up work is done with paint you supply, so you know the colour is the one you want. Filler we can bring as part of the job, and if anything extra is needed it is identified and quoted separately before we use it.
How is the visit priced?
You pay a booking fee when you book, and the hourly labour rate depends on how soon you need us. Before any work starts we agree the full cost with you and you approve it — the estimate covers a typical set of small repairs, not an unlimited list.
