More than a power lead
Modern televisions arrive half-finished by design: the hardware is set up in minutes, but the software side — accounts, networks, app stores, picture modes tuned for shop floors — can take an evening to sort out. Our setup visit covers both halves in one go. You get the screen physically installed where you want it, the connections made properly, and the settings configured for your home rather than a showroom. It is the difference between a TV in the room and a TV that works.
Physical setup: stand or wall
We start with where the screen will live. On its stand, that means assembling the pedestal to the manufacturer's instructions, fitting it to the correct fixing points, and placing the TV with enough airflow and a stable surface — a screen on an overcrowded shelf is a knock waiting to happen. On the wall, it is a mounting job: we assess the wall construction, probe for safe fixings, look out for concealed pipes and cables — a detector helps, but no scan guarantees what is hidden — and never drill blind. You normally supply the TV and, if wall-mounting, a compatible bracket, unless we have agreed otherwise. Large screens may need a second pair of hands for the lift, which we flag when you book.
Getting it connected and configured
Once the screen is in place, we make the physical connections: aerial or satellite feed where you have one, soundbar or receiver if applicable, and the console or box inputs you actually use. Then the software side — joining your Wi-Fi, running any first-time setup the manufacturer requires, signing into the accounts you want on the home screen, and installing the apps you will use. We set the picture to a mode that suits a living room rather than a bright shop display, check the sound, pair remotes, and show you where the settings live for the day you want to change something yourself.
Limits worth knowing in advance
A few things sit outside what we can promise. App availability, streaming subscriptions and regional restrictions are the manufacturer's and providers' territory — we can get the apps installed, but we cannot guarantee a particular service works, licenses content in your area, or resolves a provider's account problem. Wi-Fi performance depends on your router and broadband; if the signal does not reach the room reliably, the honest fix is better coverage, and we will say so rather than blame the TV. And if an account needs passwords or payment details, that stays yours — we will hand over at the sign-in screen and you type them in.
What to have ready
A little preparation makes the visit fast. Have your Wi-Fi network name and password to hand, know which streaming accounts you want signed in — and have their details ready for you to enter — and unpack the TV but keep the box until the stand or bracket is confirmed. If wall-mounting, have the bracket out with its fixings, and clear the wall and floor space. Tell us the TV size and whether it is going on a stand or the wall when you book, because it changes what the visit involves.
Aftercare
Two things are worth doing after setup. First, let the TV install its own updates over the following days — manufacturers ship them regularly, and the system handles it automatically. Second, if the picture ever seems off, check the picture mode before assuming a fault: shop modes and motion smoothing account for a lot of complaints that are really settings. And if you chose wall-mounting, keep an eye on the mount the way you would any fitting — movement or cracks near the fixings are worth an early check.
Booking
Same-day slots may be available, and planned visits are ideal for a new TV arriving on a known day. You pay a booking fee on booking, labour is charged hourly at a rate that depends on how soon you need the visit, and the full cost is quoted and approved before work starts. If you need a bracket, trunking or other materials, those are identified and quoted separately.
How the price works
We charge a booking fee to hold your slot, then an hourly rate for the work itself. The fee changes with how soon you need us; the hourly rate changes with the slot you choose. You approve the price before we start, so there is no surprise on the invoice.

We diagnose on site
The engineer confirms the cause and tells you what the job involves and how long it should take.
You approve, we work
Nothing goes ahead until you agree the price. Labour is then charged per hour at your slot rate.
A new smart TV is two jobs in one box: the physical setup and the digital one. The stand goes on or the screen goes on the wall, and then comes the network, the apps, the picture settings and the remote pairing. We work through both so you are watching, not troubleshooting.

Questions people ask about smart tv installation setup
Straight answers to the things customers ask most often before booking.
Should I set up a smart TV myself?
The physical part is easy; the software part is where evenings disappear — network drops, account loops and picture modes tuned for shops. If you are comfortable with both, go ahead. A setup visit is worth it when the TV is going on the wall, when several devices need connecting, or when you would rather it simply worked tonight.
What does the setup visit cover?
We assemble the stand or mount the screen on an assessed wall, connect the aerial or box and any sound equipment, join your Wi-Fi and complete the manufacturer's first-time setup, install the apps you use and set the picture and sound for your room. We finish by showing you the settings you are most likely to change later.
Do you need my passwords for the accounts?
No — those stay yours. We will take the TV to the sign-in screen and hand the remote to you, so you enter passwords and payment details yourself. We can guide you through what each screen is asking for, but the credentials are entered by you, which is both safer and quicker than it sounds.
What if the Wi-Fi does not reach the room?
Then the TV will drop out no matter how well it is set up, and the fix is network coverage rather than the television. We will tell you plainly if the signal looks weak and what typically helps — router placement or a network extender. If that turns out to be the issue, it is a separate decision rather than something we can conjure on the day.
How much does smart TV setup cost?
You pay a booking fee when you book, and hourly labour at a rate that depends on how soon you need the visit. The full cost is quoted and approved before work starts, and it depends on whether the TV goes on a stand or a wall. Any bracket, trunking or extra fixings are identified and quoted separately as materials.
