By the time you notice water inside a shed, it has usually been entering for a while — creeping under the wall base, wicking up from a wet floor, or dripping through a roof fault onto stored belongings. The damage is often worse than the visible signs, because damp timber behind panelling and under flooring stays hidden until it softens or smells.

Where the water comes from

Roof leaks are the obvious route, but interior damp has other entry points: rain driven under the lowest wall boards, splashback and standing water against the base, gaps where walls meet the floor, condensation forming on cold metal surfaces in a sealed-up shed, and ground water rising through an inadequate or waterlogged base. Each has a different fix, which is why tracing the source properly matters more than mopping faster.

What we assess

We inspect the interior surfaces for staining, mould and soft timber, lift or examine floor sections where practical to see what the boards and joists have absorbed, and check the walls, corners and base junction for the entry route. Outside, we look at the roof covering, the base perimeter, ground levels and drainage around the shed, and gutters or overhangs that should have been keeping water away. We also assess the contents — damp tools, fabric, boxes and upholstery need attention to prevent rust and mould — and advise on what can be saved and what should be disposed of.

Drying out and repairs

Drying comes first: ventilation, and where practical, controlled heat and airflow to bring the interior back to a healthy state, with mouldy or ruined materials removed and disposed of sensibly. Structural repairs follow the assessment — replacing wet-rotted floorboards or wall bottoms, repairing the roof or wall defect that let water in, and improving the base or drainage where that's the real cause. If the shed's electrics have been affected by water, that's a safety matter: circuits must be checked and made safe before use, and we'll flag it clearly rather than gloss over it. Every repair is quoted with its full cost approved before work starts, and any parts are quoted separately.

Mould, hygiene and honest limits

Damp sheds grow mould quickly, and spores aren't kind to stored belongings or lungs. Keep the space ventilated, avoid disturbing heavy mould growth without protection, and let us assess significant growth before you start wiping it down. We can't promise a shed will never take water again — outdoors is outdoors — but repairing the entry cause and advising on aftercare (ventilation, clearance from the base, gutter care) gives the interior the best chance of staying dry.

How the shed is used afterwards shapes how well the repair lasts. Storing wet gear straight off the garden, drying laundry inside a sealed shed and blocking vents with stacked boxes all recreate the damp conditions the repair just solved. We'll suggest practical habits for your particular shed — where to leave airflow, what to keep off the walls and what to do after heavy rain — so the interior stays dry without you having to think about it.

Booking your assessment

Call or book through the website and tell us the shed's size and age, when you noticed the water, where it appears inside, whether there's anything electrical in the shed and what's stored there. If mould is present, mention it when booking. You'll pay a booking fee when you book, labour is charged hourly at a rate that depends on how soon you need the visit, and the full cost is quoted and approved before we start, with any parts quoted separately.

How the price works

We charge a booking fee to hold your slot, then an hourly rate for the work itself. The fee changes with how soon you need us; the hourly rate changes with the slot you choose. You approve the price before we start, so there is no surprise on the invoice.

Water inside a shed warps floors, stains walls, rusts tools and breeds mould — and the visible puddle is rarely where the water came in. Our visit finds the true entry point, assesses what the damp has done to the structure and contents, and quotes repairs that address the cause so the interior stays dry.

What our customers say about our outdoor & exterior service

4.6 out of 5 from 10 reviews

Sorted the same day

Rang in the morning and they got to us in Wolverhampton by early afternoon. Very clear about what needed doing, what it would cost and what could wait. No pressure to add extras. Exactly the sort of tradesperson you want.

Job: Uneven Shed Base

Turned up when they said

Turned up in the window they promised, walked me through the options (turns out the previous installer had left the pipework awkward to get to), then cracked on. Everything was tested before they left. No mess, no drama, no surprise on the bill.

Job: Water-Damaged Patio

Good work, poor communication

Work itself was fine and tidy. Communication beforehand was patchy — I did not get the confirmation message and had to ring to check the slot. Would still use again.

Questions people ask about water damaged shed interior

Straight answers to the things customers ask most often before booking.

What should I do straight away about a wet shed?

Move belongings somewhere dry, ventilate the shed to start drying, and don't use any lighting, sockets or appliances in the space until they've been checked — water and electrics don't mix. Don't store anything back inside until the cause of the water is found, or you'll be drying it out twice.

How do you find where the water is coming from?

We read the interior evidence — staining patterns, mould, soft timber — then inspect the roof, wall bases, floor, base perimeter and surrounding ground to match it to an entry route. Interior damp often enters somewhere other than where it collects, so tracing beats guessing.

Is mould in my shed a health concern?

Mould growth in an enclosed space is best not disturbed casually — spores affect people differently, and heavy growth should be assessed before it's wiped down. We advise on what can be cleaned, what should be removed and how to ventilate the shed so mould doesn't immediately return.

My shed has electrics and they got wet — can you help?

Leave the supply off at the house and tell us when booking. Water-affected circuits and sockets must be checked and made safe before use; that's a safety issue we take seriously and will address as part of the assessment, before any cosmetic or storage repairs.

How much will the repairs cost?

You pay a booking fee when you book, and labour is charged hourly at a rate that depends on how soon you need us. The full cost is quoted and approved before work starts, with any parts quoted separately — so you know exactly what you're approving before we begin.
