Sheds are moved for all sorts of reasons: garden redesign, a house move, a building that's in the wrong place or casting shade where it shouldn't. Some sheds travel happily; others are too old, too rotted or too fragile to survive the process — and knowing which is which, before you start, is the most valuable part of the job.

Whether your shed should move at all

Age and condition decide it. A sound shed with good timber and intact panels is a good candidate; one with rotten floor sections, soft frame members or brittle panels may not survive dismantling in any state worth rebuilding, and we'll say so honestly rather than quote a move that ends in disappointment. The new location matters too: it needs a level, firm base — slabs, concrete or a proper base system — reasonable access for carrying sections through, and sensible clearances from boundaries, trees and overhanging branches. Where digging or ground works are involved at the new spot, we locate underground services carefully and use detectors where appropriate, though no scan guarantees what's below. If a new base is needed, we'll include that in the plan and quote.

How we dismantle and move

The roof covering and glazing are dealt with first, as the fragile parts, then panels are numbered and removed in a planned order so reassembly mirrors dismantling. Frame sections are taken down intact where practical, fixings are kept with their panels, and everything is protected and transported on suitable transport. Doors and windows are removed separately rather than left hanging. At the new site the base is checked for level and stability, and the shed is rebuilt in reverse order: floor level, frame square, panels fixed, roof covered, doors and hardware aligned and working. Rebuilt sheds get new fixings where old ones have failed — reusing tired nails and screws is a false economy.

What we need from you

Clear access at both ends — from the shed to the vehicle and from the vehicle to the new base — the new base ready before move day, and an honest account of the shed's age and condition. Please also mention anything stored inside that needs moving, and whether the shed has an electrical supply, which must be safely isolated and dealt with separately before dismantling. Green waste and debris disposal is agreed with you in advance.

Weather, timing and limits

Dismantling and reassembly are weather-dependent — roof work and panel handling need dry, calm conditions — so we schedule around the forecast and tell you plainly if weather must delay the move. We don't guarantee that every panel will survive a move undamaged; older timber and brittle panels can crack despite careful handling, and we'll warn you if the assessment suggests that risk is real. The full cost is quoted and approved before work starts, with any parts or new base materials quoted separately.

If the shed's new spot is smaller or more enclosed than the old one, think ahead about access for maintenance — room to treat the timber, clear the base perimeter and reach the roof edge for cleaning. A shed rebuilt hard against a fence or under dense planting is harder to keep healthy, and the extra shade and damp will show in the timber within a few seasons. We'll flag anything like that at the assessment.

Booking your shed move

Call or book through the website with the shed's size, age and condition, the current and new locations, the distance involved and the base situation at both ends. You'll pay a booking fee when you book, labour is charged hourly at a rate that depends on how soon you need the visit, and the full cost is quoted and approved before work starts, with any parts quoted separately.

How the price works

We charge a booking fee to hold your slot, then an hourly rate for the work itself. The fee changes with how soon you need us; the hourly rate changes with the slot you choose. You approve the price before we start, so there is no surprise on the invoice.

Choose the window that suits you and pay the booking fee. That holds your place in the diary.

2

We diagnose on site

The engineer confirms the cause and tells you what the job involves and how long it should take.

3

You approve, we work

Nothing goes ahead until you agree the price. Labour is then charged per hour at your slot rate.

Moving a shed is a bigger job than most people expect — panels that came apart easily once rarely go back the same way, and the base at the new spot matters as much as the shed itself. Our visit starts with an honest assessment of whether the building is worth moving, then covers careful dismantling, transport and a proper rebuild.

What our customers say about our outdoor & exterior service

4.6 out of 5 from 10 reviews

Sorted the same day

Rang in the morning and they got to us in Wolverhampton by early afternoon. Very clear about what needed doing, what it would cost and what could wait. No pressure to add extras. Exactly the sort of tradesperson you want.

Job: Uneven Shed Base

Turned up when they said

Turned up in the window they promised, walked me through the options (turns out the previous installer had left the pipework awkward to get to), then cracked on. Everything was tested before they left. No mess, no drama, no surprise on the bill.

Job: Water-Damaged Patio

Good work, poor communication

Work itself was fine and tidy. Communication beforehand was patchy — I did not get the confirmation message and had to ring to check the slot. Would still use again.

Job: Sinking Driveway

Questions people ask about shed relocation

Straight answers to the things customers ask most often before booking.

Can I move a shed myself?

A small, sound shed with two strong helpers is possible for a capable DIYer, but panels crack, frames rack and roofs suffer when handled without a plan. The bigger risk is rebuilding on an unlevel base — that's what causes doors and panels to fight you afterwards. An assessment first tells you whether the move is realistic at all.

Will my shed survive being moved?

A sound shed usually travels well when dismantled carefully and rebuilt properly. Older sheds with rotten floors, soft frames or brittle panels are a genuine risk, and we'll assess that honestly before quoting — better to know before the panels come off than after.

What do I need ready before move day?

A level, firm base at the new location, clear access at both ends for carrying sections, and the shed emptied of contents. If the shed has an electrical supply, it must be safely isolated first — tell us when booking and we'll make sure it's handled correctly before dismantling starts.

Do you rebuild the shed on the same base type?

The rebuild goes onto whatever sound base is at the new location — slabs, concrete or a base system — and we check it for level first. If a new base is needed, we'll include that in the quote with materials quoted separately, because the base decides how well the rebuilt shed performs.

How much does moving a shed cost?

You pay a booking fee when you book, and labour is charged hourly at a rate that depends on how soon you need us. The full cost is quoted and approved before work starts, with any parts or new base materials quoted separately, so the plan and price are clear before a single panel comes off.
