Define what the property needs
We discuss how hot water is used, current system type, available space, route to the installation location, existing cylinder and pipework condition, and whether an electric supply is suitable for the proposed equipment. Safe access matters, including stairs, loft hatches, cupboards and removal routes for old equipment. Share make and model information or photographs only if obtained safely. If the property’s plan depends on a gas boiler, our trusted Gas Safe partner must quote and carry out that gas work directly. A separate cylinder or immersion installation does not authorize Maintenance Men to touch gas components or extend the scope beyond the agreed electric/water-side work.
Understand the initial installation day
The 360-minute estimate is for a defined initial install day after the scope has been agreed. It does not guarantee completion if site conditions differ, hidden defects are found, equipment is incompatible, materials are unavailable or additional work is required. We explain any change and pause for approval before carrying out work outside the agreed scope. Larger installations may be quoted as separate stages, with dependencies and access discussed in advance. Equipment, parts and materials are identified and priced separately; the customer supplies items unless their supply has been clearly agreed. Availability and compatibility can affect start dates.
Installation safety and preparation
Hot-water cylinders are heavy and store water; moving or draining one without the right preparation can cause injury, scalds or property damage. Do not remove an existing cylinder or alter electrical connections in advance unless specifically arranged with a competent person. Clear the agreed access route, protect belongings and tell us about parking, restricted entry, pets or shared access. Electrical isolation and checks must be handled by a competent person. After installation, follow the equipment manufacturer’s instructions and do not adjust safety devices. We explain the work completed and any items outside the agreed scope.
