A screen on the move is an urgent call
There is a difference between a mount that creaks and a mount that is visibly separating from the wall — a plate tilting, a screen hanging off-square, a gap opening behind the bracket, plaster dust falling. That second situation is an emergency in slow motion. The screen's weight is now being carried by whatever is left of the fixing, the loads on the remaining anchors are worse than they have ever been, and below it are usually people, pets and a hard floor. If your TV is in that state, clear the area beneath it, do not push on the screen to test it, and get help booked.
First: make it safe
The first task on arrival is stabilisation. That means a planned, controlled lift of the screen off the failing mount — two-person for anything large, which we may ask you to help arrange, and we flag that when you book so the visit is not delayed. With the screen down on a stand or safe surface, the immediate risk ends, and everything else can be done properly rather than desperately. We would always rather spend ten minutes making a situation safe than spend an hour rebuilding a mount while a screen hangs over someone's head.
Then: find out why
A screen does not start falling for no reason, and the reason decides the fix. The usual suspects: anchors that were wrong for the wall and have finally pulled; a fixing into board or crumbling plaster that never had real grip; a bracket deformed by a screen heavier than its rating; or a wall that has failed around the fixings — a broken-out hole, sagging plaster, a crack running through the mounting area. We examine the wall, every fixing hole and the bracket itself, and we look for anything hidden that matters before any new fixing is planned: pipes, cables and socket spurs are all live considerations. A detector helps narrow down what is behind the surface, but no scan guarantees what is hidden, so we verify before drilling and never drill blind.
Fixing it properly
The repair depends on the diagnosis, and the honest options are the same as for any failed mount — with urgency attached. Sound wall, failed fixings: a proper re-fix with the right anchors, in sound holes or holes made good first. Failed bracket: replacement, with the rating and pattern matched to the screen. Failed wall: the fixing strategy changes — reposition to structure, reinforcement quoted separately, or a stand instead of the wall. What never happens is the same arrangement going back up with a twist of a spanner and a hope. Every repair ends with the screen re-hung, locked, and the mount pull-checked before we call it done.
When more than one visit is needed
Some failing-mount jobs cannot be completed in one visit: the wall needs repair or reinforcement, the bracket must be replaced, or the screen is large and help was not available on the day. In that case the visit still achieves something real — the setup made safe, the diagnosis done, and a clear quoted plan for the rest. Making good after wall damage is scoped separately, and we will tell you plainly what each stage involves.
Aftercare
After a fall was prevented, keep watching. A repaired mount should hold without any movement; if the plate shifts again, that is an immediate call, because a repeat usually means the wall, not the fixings, is the story. Check the area beneath the screen is kept clear of anything fragile in the first weeks, and have any future mount installed with the assessment it deserves — a properly assessed fixing is how this story never gets a sequel.
Booking
Call this one urgent and we will treat it that way — same-day slots may be available for a screen that is actively coming away. Describe what is happening, the screen size and the wall type if you know them. You pay a booking fee on booking, labour is charged hourly at a rate that depends on how soon you need the visit, and the full cost is quoted and approved before work starts. Replacement fixings, brackets or repair materials are identified and quoted separately.
How the price works
We charge a booking fee to hold your slot, then an hourly rate for the work itself. The fee changes with how soon you need us; the hourly rate changes with the slot you choose. You approve the price before we start, so there is no surprise on the invoice.

We diagnose on site
The engineer confirms the cause and tells you what the job involves and how long it should take.
You approve, we work
Nothing goes ahead until you agree the price. Labour is then charged per hour at your slot rate.
A TV that is visibly coming away from the wall is not a job for tomorrow. It is heavy, it is above people and floors, and every hour it hangs on a failing fixing raises the stakes. We treat it as the urgent job it is: stabilise first, diagnose second, fix properly last.

Questions people ask about falling tv risk repair
Straight answers to the things customers ask most often before booking.
My TV is coming away from the wall — what should I do right now?
Clear the area beneath it, keep people and pets away, and do not push on the screen to test it — that adds load to fixings that are already failing. Book an urgent visit. If someone confident is on hand and the screen is manageable, taking it down carefully to a stand is the safest immediate step.
What do you do when you arrive?
First, make it safe: a planned, controlled lift of the screen off the failing mount, two-person for larger screens. Then we diagnose — the wall, the fixing holes, the anchors and the bracket — before quoting the proper repair. Nothing is re-hung until the fix is sound and pull-checked.
Why did the mount fail if it held for years?
Slow failure is the usual story: anchors gradually crushing or working free, a wall substrate that was never really up to the load, or a bracket worn past its rating. The years it held say nothing about the hour it did not. That is why the repair is aimed at the cause, not just the symptom.
Can the screen go straight back on the same wall?
Often yes, but only after the wall is proven sound and the fixing strategy is right for what failed — same hole, same plug, same everything is exactly what we avoid. If the wall needs repair or reinforcement, that is quoted separately and the screen waits safely on a stand until it is done.
What does an urgent fix like this cost?
You pay a booking fee on booking, and hourly labour at a rate that depends on how soon you need the visit — urgent same-day visits sit at the higher end of the rate scale, which is how the pricing works rather than a special surcharge. The full cost is quoted and approved before work starts, and replacement brackets, fixings or wall repair materials are quoted separately.
