First: stop the water if you safely can
If water is actively coming through a ceiling, down a wall or out from under a unit, the most valuable thing you can do before calling anyone is stop the flow at the source. Turn off the water at the internal stopcock — usually under the kitchen sink — and, if the leak is near an electrical fitting or light, switch the power off at the consumer unit rather than touching anything wet. Move rugs, electronics and anything valuable out of the wet zone, and put a bucket under any drip you cannot stop. If you cannot find or reach the stopcock, or turning it feels unsafe, do not force it — that is exactly the situation to describe when you call us.
What an emergency sealing visit can do
Our role in a leak emergency is containment and protection at the surface: we can seal and temporarily close the path water is taking across a joint, edge or penetration — around a washed-out bath sealant line, a split shower bead, a failed joint on a pipe sleeve or a washed-out seal on a sink rim — so damage stops spreading while you arrange the permanent repair. Same-day visits may be available depending on the diary; when you call, tell us the leak is active so we can prioritise the next available slot and talk you through shutting the water off meanwhile.
What it cannot do
A surface seal is a bandage, not a cure. If the leak is from a burst pipe, a failed waste fitting, a corroded trap or a joint under pressure inside a wall, sealing the surface route the water is escaping by will not stop the leak itself — water will simply find another path, often a worse one. Similarly, if water is coming through from a roof, flat above or blocked gutter, the real fault is in the building envelope and needs a roofer or builder. We will tell you honestly what we can contain, what needs a plumber immediately, and what needs a different trade — and we will not seal over an active plumbing fault just to make it look tidy.
How we work on the day
On arrival we confirm the water is off and the area is safe, then trace the wettest point and identify what kind of failure we are looking at. If it is a joint we can seal — and only then — we dry the surface as far as practical, apply a suitable fast-curing product appropriate to the location, and reinforce or pack the joint where needed to hold until proper repairs happen. Emergency work has limits: surfaces that are soaked through may not take sealant well, and we will tell you if a temporary seal is not achievable and what to do instead, such as keeping the water off and catching water meanwhile.
Getting the permanent fix arranged
Once the situation is contained, the next step matters more than the bandage: a plumber for pipework and fittings, a roofer or builder for anything coming from the building's structure, and drying-out time for anything that has taken water into plaster, floor or fittings. We will leave you with a clear note of what we sealed, where, and what we recommend next, so whoever does the permanent repair is not starting blind. If the underlying fault turns out to be a sealant line we can replace properly once the leak is fixed, we can quote that as follow-on work.
What to have ready when you call
Know where your stopcock is, and tell us the room, what is above the leak if it is a ceiling, and whether the water is clean from a pipe or coming from a drain or waste fitting — that last distinction matters for hygiene and for how we work. The booking fee is paid on booking, the hourly labour rate depends on how quickly you need us out, and the full cost of agreed work is confirmed before we start. In an active leak, call as early as you can and get the water off first — everything after that is easier.
How the price works
We charge a booking fee to hold your slot, then an hourly rate for the work itself. The fee changes with how soon you need us; the hourly rate changes with the slot you choose. You approve the price before we start, so there is no surprise on the invoice.

We diagnose on site
The engineer confirms the cause and tells you what the job involves and how long it should take.
You approve, we work
Nothing goes ahead until you agree the price. Labour is then charged per hour at your slot rate.
If water is coming through a ceiling or spreading across a floor, turn the water off at the stopcock first — if you can find it and it is safe to turn — then call us. Our role in an active leak is containment: sealing the path water is taking across a joint or edge so damage stops spreading while the permanent repair is arranged. We will also tell you honestly when the fault needs a plumber, roofer or builder instead of a sealant.

Questions people ask about emergency leak sealing
Straight answers to the things customers ask most often before booking.
What should I do myself before calling?
Turn the water off at the internal stopcock if you can find it and it turns safely, and if water is near electrics, switch the power off at the consumer unit rather than touching anything wet. Move valuables out of the wet zone and catch what you cannot stop. Do not force a seized stopcock — if it will not turn, describe that when you call.
What do you actually do on an emergency leak visit?
We confirm the water is off and the area is safe, then trace the wettest point to identify what kind of failure we are looking at. If water is escaping across a surface joint that we can seal, we dry it as far as practical and apply a suitable fast-curing product to close the path. Whatever the outcome, you get a clear note of what we found and what needs doing next.
Can you fix the burst pipe or the plumbing fault itself?
No — our sealing work is containment at the surface, not plumbing repair. A burst pipe, failed waste fitting or joint under pressure needs a plumber, and water coming through from a roof or gutter needs a roofer or builder. We will tell you plainly which situation you have rather than seal over a live fault.
How quickly can you come out?
We do not quote fixed response times, but same-day slots may be available depending on the diary. Call and tell us the leak is active — that helps us prioritise the next available visit and talk you through shutting the water off in the meantime. The sooner the stopcock is off, the less damage the water does.
How is an emergency visit charged?
You pay a booking fee when you book, and the hourly labour rate depends on how quickly you need us out — urgent visits sit at the higher end of that scale. The full cost of the agreed work is confirmed with you before we start. Materials are quoted separately where they are needed.
