Deep cleaning a small appliance is part hygiene, part maintenance. Grease on an air fryer's element guard, coffee oils in a group head, crumbs under a toaster's elements and residue around a blender's blade seal all affect how the appliance performs, not just how it looks. The work has to be done with a clear understanding of which parts can be wetted and which must stay dry.
What deep cleaning covers
For most small appliances, a deep clean means dismantling what the maker allows — baskets, trays, jugs, blades, drip trays, crumb trays, water tanks, gaskets where removable — and cleaning them properly, then cleaning the fixed parts by wiping and careful detailing rather than immersion. It includes the seals and crevices where residue collects, the vents and filters that govern airflow, and the exterior including controls and handles. It does not include opening the motor housing, the element chamber or the control board area.
The rule about water and electricity
Water goes nowhere near a motor, an element connection, a control board or a mains terminal. That is not caution for its own sake: moisture bridging live parts to the casing causes earth leakage, which trips RCDs and can give a shock. Appliances that have been cleaned too enthusiastically and then trip the electrics are a familiar sight. Where a part cannot be removed, it gets wiped with a damp cloth and dried immediately, not sprayed, soaked or steam-cleaned.
Appliance by appliance
Air fryers collect carbonised grease on the element guard and around the fan, which restricts airflow and causes uneven cooking. Toasters need crumbs cleared from the base and the interior checked for carbonised material near the elements. Coffee machines need the group head, shower screen, drip tray and steam wand cleaned, with milk residue removed promptly because dried milk is both a blockage and a hygiene problem. Blenders need the blade assembly and its seal cleaned carefully, since residue trapped under the seal is a common source of smells. Kettles and steam irons are scale rather than grease, which is descaling rather than deep cleaning.
What cleaning will not fix
A deep clean restores airflow and hygiene; it does not repair a failed element, a worn seal, a seized fan or a faulty thermostat. If an appliance is underperforming, cleaning may improve it and may not. We will tell you honestly which it is, rather than presenting a clean as a substitute for a repair. Equally, we will not clean an appliance that is unsafe to use — a scorched plug, a damaged flex or a burnt interior needs attention first.
Doing it safely at home
Unplug first, every time, and let heating appliances cool completely — an air fryer interior stays hot far longer than expected. Never immerse a base unit. Never put water into vents. Do not use abrasive pads on non-stick coatings or on soleplates. Follow the maker's instructions for any cleaning product, particularly on aluminium and coated surfaces. Reassemble and dry everything fully before the appliance is used again, because trapped moisture is exactly what causes electrical faults.
When to book a clean
Book if the appliance has grease or residue in places you cannot reach safely, if performance has dropped and you suspect buildup, or if you would rather not dismantle removable parts yourself. Bring the appliance with its accessories and mention any parts that are already damaged, so we do not clean around a fault.
Booking
Book online with the appliance type and what you want cleaned. The booking fee is paid when you book, and the hourly labour rate depends on how soon you need the visit. The full cost is quoted and approved before work begins, and any replacement parts such as seals or filters are identified and quoted separately.
How the price works
We charge a booking fee to hold your slot, then an hourly rate for the work itself. The fee changes with how soon you need us; the hourly rate changes with the slot you choose. You approve the price before we start, so there is no surprise on the invoice.

You approve, we work
Nothing goes ahead until you agree the price. Labour is then charged per hour at your slot rate.
Small appliances accumulate grease, crumbs and residue in places that a quick wipe never reaches, and the result is not just appearance: airflow drops, elements carbonise and seals harden. A proper clean restores performance and hygiene. It also has clear limits, because water and electricity do not mix and some parts must never be wetted.

Job: Tumble Dryer Not Starting Cycle
Good job, slightly late
Solid work. Hourly rate feels fair for the amount of work involved and everything was tested before they left. Would book again.
Job: Toaster Not Working
No mess left behind
Really straightforward. It had been bothering us for weeks; diagnosed properly, fixed the same visit, and the price was exactly what was explained when booking. Can not fault it.

Questions people ask about small appliance deep cleaning
Straight answers to the things customers ask most often before booking.
Can I deep clean my appliances myself?
Removable parts, exteriors and accessible crevices are fine to clean at home with the appliance unplugged and cool. Anything involving the motor housing, element chamber or control area should not be wetted, and is best left alone.
What does the clean actually include?
Removable parts washed as the maker allows, fixed parts wiped and detailed, seals and crevices cleaned, vents and filters cleared, and the exterior including controls. Internal electrical components are not opened or wetted.
Is it safe to clean around the element?
Only with the appliance unplugged and fully cooled, using a damp cloth on accessible surfaces. Never spray liquid into an element housing or a fan motor, and never immerse the main body.
Will a deep clean fix my appliance's poor performance?
It may, if buildup or restricted airflow is the cause. It will not fix a failed element, worn seal or faulty thermostat. We will tell you which situation applies rather than promising a clean will solve everything.
How do you price a clean?
The booking fee is paid when you book, and the hourly labour rate depends on how soon you need the visit. We confirm the full cost before starting and you approve it first; any parts such as seals or filters are quoted separately.
