A dishwasher installation looks straightforward and often is, when the kitchen already has the services in the right place. Where it is not, the problems are predictable: a machine that will not go under the worktop, a waste connection that syphons, or a supply that needs altering beyond what an appliance fitter should be doing.
What we establish before anything is moved
- the appliance's dimensions against the available aperture, including height with the worktop
- whether the door will open clear of adjacent units and appliances
- the position of the water supply and whether it has an isolating valve
- the drainage route: sink spigot, standpipe, or waste disposal connection
- whether the existing socket or spur is suitable and accessible
- the flooring and whether the machine can be slid in without damaging it
- whether the old machine needs disconnecting and removing
That assessment is the difference between a clean installation and a second visit.
Supply and waste
The fill hose connects to a cold supply with an isolating valve. If there is no valve, or it is seized, that is plumbing work and we will say so rather than improvising. The machine needs a tap it can be isolated from, or future maintenance means draining the house.
The drain hose needs either a spigot on the sink waste with an air break, or a standpipe at the correct height. Pushed too deep into a standpipe with no air gap, the machine syphons and appears to leak or to fill with dirty water. Getting the hose height right is a small detail with a large effect.
Electrical
Dishwashers are usually connected to a fused spur or a socket. We connect to an existing suitable point. We do not install new circuits, add sockets, or alter consumer unit arrangements; that is electrical work with its own requirements. If the existing point is inadequate or unsafe, we will stop and tell you what is needed.
Fitting and levelling
The machine goes in level, on all four feet, with the rear feet adjusted before it is pushed fully home if the model allows. A machine that rocks will be noisy and can leak at the door, because the tub twists. The worktop fixings, where fitted, are attached after levelling.
First run and checks
After connection we run a short cycle and check the fill, the drain, the door seal and both hose connections. We check under the sink for weeping at the spigot, and at the appliance end for damp at the union. Then we check the machine for stability and that the door opens without fouling.
What we do not promise
A single appointment does not always complete an installation. If the aperture needs altering, the worktop cutting, the waste re-routed or a new supply run, that is separate work and may need another trade. We will tell you before starting, not halfway through.
We also cannot confirm a specific model will fit until we have measured. A machine bought on dimensions alone sometimes will not clear a worktop upstand or a pipe run behind.
Old appliance removal
If the old machine is being removed, it needs disconnecting, draining and lifting out, and the water in the hoses and sump disposed of sensibly. Removing an appliance is not the same as installing one, and we will confirm what is included before the visit.
Aftercare
Keep the manual and note the model and serial number. Check under the sink a day after installation for damp at the connections. Run the first few cycles on a normal programme and watch for leaks at the door and the plinth. Confirm the drain hose has not been pulled tight or kinked when the machine was pushed back.
Booking
Tell us the model, the aperture dimensions, where the supply and waste are, and whether an old machine needs removing. Photographs of the space are genuinely useful. Book online, pay the booking fee when you book, and the hourly labour rate depends on how soon you need the visit. The full cost is quoted and approved before work starts.
How the price works
We charge a booking fee to hold your slot, then an hourly rate for the work itself. The fee changes with how soon you need us; the hourly rate changes with the slot you choose. You approve the price before we start, so there is no surprise on the invoice.

We diagnose on site
The engineer confirms the cause and tells you what the job involves and how long it should take.
You approve, we work
Nothing goes ahead until you agree the price. Labour is then charged per hour at your slot rate.
Installing a dishwasher is mostly about what happens before the machine goes in: whether it fits, whether the services are where they need to be, and whether the waste arrangement will drain or syphon. Getting those right avoids the common outcome of a machine that fits but leaks, or drains but smells.
What our customers say about our home appliances service

Exactly what was quoted
What I appreciated was being told what was actually wrong before anyone started. Sorted in under 27 minutes and the invoice matched the quote to the penny.
Job: Tumble Dryer Not Starting Cycle
Good job, slightly late
Solid work. Hourly rate feels fair for the amount of work involved and everything was tested before they left. Would book again.
Job: Toaster Not Working
No mess left behind
Really straightforward. It had been bothering us for weeks; diagnosed properly, fixed the same visit, and the price was exactly what was explained when booking. Can not fault it.

Questions people ask about dishwasher installation
Straight answers to the things customers ask most often before booking.
Can you fit a machine I have already bought?
Yes, subject to the space and services being suitable. We measure the aperture, check the supply and waste positions, and confirm the existing electrical point before connecting anything.
Will it definitely fit in one visit?
Not always. If the aperture needs altering, the waste re-routing or a new supply running, that is separate work. We will tell you before starting rather than discovering it halfway through.
Do you install new sockets or circuits?
No. We connect to an existing suitable point. New circuits or additional sockets are electrical work and we will explain what is needed so you can arrange it.
Why does the drain hose height matter?
Without an air break, the machine can syphon waste water back or drain itself during a cycle. Correct hose height and a proper spigot or standpipe connection prevent that.
How is the price calculated?
The booking fee is paid when you book. The hourly labour rate depends on how soon you need the visit. We quote the full cost and you approve it before work begins, with any hoses, valves or fittings identified and quoted separately.
