Sensor repair is a discipline, not a product. The same symptom — a sensor that is dead, erratic or unreliable — can come from a battery, a contact, a tamper switch, an alignment drift, a radio link, a cable, moisture or the sensor's own electronics, and the wrong guess costs you twice: once for the part that did not fix it, and again for the repair that was actually needed. So our repair service is built in the right order: diagnose first, explain clearly, quote for approval, then repair. And when the honest answer is that a sensor is past sensible repair — aged electronics, sealed units, obsolete parts — we will say that plainly rather than sell work that will not last.
The faults we see and fix
Across alarm and smart-home sensors, the recurring repairs are familiar. Battery and contact problems lead the list, including corrosion left by old cells. Tamper faults — a case not fully closed, a stuck tamper switch — take zones out of service on many panels. Alignment and mounting faults, where a sensor or its magnet has drifted, cause both missed detections and phantom readings. Radio issues on wireless sensors — weak links, lost pairings, placement against metal — show up as intermittency. On wired sensors, cable damage and loose connections account for most dead zones. Environmental damage is its own category: moisture ingress, dust, grease and heat degrade sensors in kitchens, bathrooms and garages in ways that cleaning can only partly reverse. And some faults belong to the sensor's internals — a failed reed switch, a dying PIR element, corroded electronics — where replacement, not repair, is the honest recommendation.
How we diagnose before we repair
Every repair visit starts with evidence. We test the sensor against the panel or hub in live mode, so we see what the system actually reports rather than trusting the symptom description alone. We check the simple and cheap causes before the expensive ones — batteries, contacts, case closure, alignment — then move to wiring, radio links and power supplies as the evidence directs. Where a replacement part is needed, we match it to the system: sensors are not interchangeable across brands, and fitting whatever is to hand is how systems end up half-compatible and unreliable. Nothing is repaired before you have seen the diagnosis and approved the quote, with parts listed separately.
What we will tell you honestly
Not every sensor is worth repairing. A unit past its designed lifespan, a sealed detector whose sensing element has expired, or a model no longer supported by your panel may be better replaced, and we will say so with the comparison in front of you rather than recommending the option that bills more hours. Nor will we claim any repaired sensor is guaranteed against every condition — sensors have coverage patterns, tolerances and failure modes, which is why every repair ends with a live test so you can see the detection working before we leave. If a repair cannot be completed because a part must be ordered, we will tell you what interim state your system is in and never leave a zone silently bypassed.
Booking a sensor repair
Call or use the website and tell us the sensor type and location, what the fault looks like, and what system it belongs to. You pay a booking fee when you book, labour is charged hourly at a rate that depends on how soon you need the visit, and the full cost is quoted and approved before work starts, with any parts quoted separately.
How the price works
We charge a booking fee to hold your slot, then an hourly rate for the work itself. The fee changes with how soon you need us; the hourly rate changes with the slot you choose. You approve the price before we start, so there is no surprise on the invoice.

You approve, we work
Nothing goes ahead until you agree the price. Labour is then charged per hour at your slot rate.
Sensors fail in confusing ways: sometimes silently, sometimes erratically, sometimes just unreliably enough to distrust. What they all have in common is that a proper diagnosis beats a guess. Our repair service starts with finding the real fault, then quoting the fix — or telling you honestly when replacement is the better answer.

Questions people ask about sensor repair service
Straight answers to the things customers ask most often before booking.
Can I attempt a sensor repair myself?
Battery replacement, gentle cleaning and reseating a loose sensor are sensible DIY where the manual supports them — and worth trying first, since they fix a fair share of faults. Opening the unit, touching wiring or replacing internal parts is not: sensors often create tamper faults when disturbed, and the symptom can end up worse than the disease.
How does your repair process work?
We test the sensor live against the panel or hub, work from the cheap and likely causes to the expensive ones, and identify the actual fault before quoting. You approve the cost — parts listed separately — and only then do we repair, finishing with a live test so you can see the detection working.
Is it safe to keep using a faulty sensor?
It is not dangerous in itself, but it is a trust problem: a sensor that triggers late, intermittently or not at all means the zone it watches is not reliably monitored. Some people respond by ignoring or muting the sensor, which trades an annoyance for a blind spot. Diagnosis is the sensible middle path.
When would you recommend replacement instead of repair?
When the sensor is past its designed lifespan, when its sensing element has expired and cannot be renewed, when parts are no longer supported by your panel, or when the repair cost approaches a replacement that will last longer. We put the comparison in front of you and let you decide — we do not recommend repair work that will not last.
How are sensor repairs priced?
You pay a booking fee when you book, and labour is charged hourly at a rate that depends on how soon you need the visit. Once diagnosed, the full cost of the repair is quoted and approved before we start, and any parts are quoted separately so you can see what each costs.
