Find the cause of heating that continues after the thermostat is satisfied
We diagnose the thermostat demand and connected controls before recommending changes, since continuous heating can originate beyond the room control.
Booking fee plus hourly labour — the price is confirmed before any work starts.

Heating that keeps running after the room reaches its target can be uncomfortable and may point to a control fault. We check how demand is being made and passed through the system before suggesting a repair.
What the symptoms can tell us
The thermostat may be calling continuously because its reading, schedule or settings are wrong, but it may also be satisfied while a receiver, relay, zone valve or wiring connection remains active. A stuck control or heating component can keep producing heat independently of the wall unit. On systems with separate hot-water controls or multiple zones, apparent continuous heating may be a different circuit operating normally. Note whether the thermostat display indicates demand, which radiators are warm, whether hot water is also active, and whether the heating stops when using its normal off setting. Do not disconnect wires or force a valve to determine the cause.
Checks during the visit
The engineer checks the thermostat setting, displayed room temperature and demand status, then follows the relevant receiver, programmer or zone control response. The heating pattern is compared with what the controls indicate so the point where the system fails to stop can be identified. Accessible electrical and suitable water-side components are assessed within scope, with safe isolation where required. If the thermostat is no longer calling but heat continues, attention can move downstream to the control or heating circuit rather than replacing the room unit. Gas-boiler gas-side work remains excluded; suspected combustion or flue concerns require Gas Safe referral.
Repair choices and limits
A schedule or user-setting correction may resolve some cases, while a confirmed failed thermostat, relay or actuator may require repair or compatible replacement. If a heating component is sticking or another zone is active, that needs diagnosis and an agreed scope of its own. The thermostat should not be replaced unless evidence supports it. Major system faults may require staged work or a separate quote, and no repair is promised before diagnosis. Any additional part or work is described and priced for approval before it begins.
Electrical and heating safety
A thermostat is a control device, not permission to work inside a boiler. Maintenance Men handles thermostat controls and suitable electrical or water-side heating faults within scope, but does not carry out gas work or open a gas boiler to adjust gas components. If symptoms suggest a combustion, flue or other gas-side safety concern, stop using the appliance if advised, leave it unopened, and arrange a Gas Safe registered engineer; an urgent gas smell is not a routine booking. Do not remove covers, probe live terminals or bypass a control. The engineer will explain any limit before proceeding.
Booking, price and next steps
The booking is for the stated diagnostic or defined thermostat visit, not an automatic promise that every fault can be fixed in one appointment. Booking fee is paid when booking; the hourly labour rate depends on how soon you need the visit. The full cost for the agreed work is quoted and you approve it before work starts. Any required replacement control, wiring materials or other parts can be identified and quoted separately; parts are not assumed to be included. Availability, compatibility and access may affect the next step. Book online and include the thermostat make and model, heating system type if known, symptoms, and anything already checked.
After the visit
If the home is becoming uncomfortably hot, use only the normal user controls and do not open panels or isolate unknown circuits. If controls do not stop the heating, or there are unusual noises, overheating, leaks or electrical warning signs, report those details promptly and seek urgent help if there is immediate danger. Record the thermostat status and heating pattern. After a repair, verify that the system stops when demand ends during ordinary operation; do not bypass a control to force an off state.
How the price works
We charge a booking fee to hold your slot, then an hourly rate for the work itself. The fee changes with how soon you need us; the hourly rate changes with the slot you choose. You approve the price before we start, so there is no surprise on the invoice.

What our customers say about our heating & radiators service
5 out of 5 from 10 reviews
Fast, tidy and friendly
Booked the £220 booking-fee slot on Tuesday and got a message confirming the time the same morning. The cause was explained, the price agreed before any work started, and the job was done in about 46 minutes. Clean and tidy when they left.
Job: No Heating from Boiler
Turned up when they said
What I appreciated was being told what was actually wrong before anyone started. Sorted in under 46 minutes and the invoice matched the quote to the penny.
Job: Expansion Vessel Fault
Exactly what was quoted
I had put off sorting this for months because I expected a runaround. Quoted the booking fee plus hourly rate upfront, stuck to it, and actually found the underlying cause rather than just clearing the symptom. Worked neatly and hoovered up afterwards.
Job: Airlock in Hot Water System

Questions people ask about heating constantly running
Straight answers to the things customers ask most often before booking.
Can I turn the thermostat off to stop the heating?
Use its normal off setting if available and follow the maker's instructions, but do not remove it or disconnect wires. If heating continues despite the normal control, arrange diagnosis.
What will you check first?
The engineer checks the thermostat's actual demand and compares it with the receiver, programmer or zone response and the heating behaviour. This diagnosis-first approach avoids assuming the thermostat itself is at fault.
Is continuous heating a gas emergency?
Not by itself, but any gas smell or suspected combustion or flue concern needs immediate appropriate action and Gas Safe attention. Maintenance Men does not perform gas work.
Why does the heating run when the thermostat says the room is warm?
A relay, valve, wiring or separate zone may remain active after the thermostat is satisfied. The control path must be checked to locate why heat continues.
How is the cost set?
The booking fee is paid when booking, and the hourly labour rate depends on how soon you need a visit. The full cost is quoted for approval before work starts; parts or materials are quoted separately.
