Find Out Why Hot Water Flow Seems Weaker Than Normal
We compare affected outlets and assess accessible hot-water pipework, valves and cylinder arrangements to distinguish flow restriction from a wider supply issue.
Booking fee plus hourly labour — the price is confirmed before any work starts.

“Low hot-water pressure” is often used to describe a weak flow, though pressure and flow are not the same. A restricted tap, shower head, pipe or valve can reduce delivery even when the wider system is operating normally. Some stored-water systems are designed to provide a different flow from mains-fed taps. Maintenance Men checks the system arrangement, accessible cylinder connections, valves and hot-water pipework to identify likely restrictions. Any electrical component is considered only within competence; gas boiler combustion and gas-side work are not undertaken and, if implicated, are referred to a trusted Gas Safe partner.
Compare outlets and cold water
Notice whether the reduced flow occurs at every hot tap or only one, and whether the cold flow at those same outlets has also changed. A single shower with a weak hot stream may have a local filter, hose or mixer issue, whereas several affected taps can indicate a shared hot-water route or stored-water arrangement. Tell us whether the change was gradual or sudden and whether any plumbing work, leak or valve adjustment occurred. Do not remove fittings that are difficult to access or force an old valve. If the water is discoloured, the flow stops abruptly or a leak is visible, include that detail when arranging the visit.
Understand the type of system
We identify whether hot water is stored in a cylinder, supplied through a particular pressure arrangement, or delivered via another configuration. This matters because not every system should be expected to match the cold mains flow. We inspect accessible pipework, visible valves, cylinder connections and relevant outlets where agreed. We look for signs of a restriction, leakage or an incorrectly positioned accessible control. We do not alter a gas appliance or inspect its gas components. If the system’s hot-water route depends on a boiler, we can assess water-side symptoms within scope, but any gas or combustion concern goes to a Gas Safe partner.
A restriction needs a measured remedy
Possible causes include scale or debris at a local outlet, a partially closed valve, a narrowed pipe or a fault in a mixing component. Which remedy fits depends on where the flow changes and on the pipe materials and layout. Clearing one accessible restriction is not the same as replacing a branch or redesigning the system. We explain access limits and any risk of disturbing older pipework before work. Parts and materials are identified and quoted separately; extensive pipe replacement may need a separate quote and staged plan. We cannot promise a particular flow rate or pressure improvement before diagnosis, and we do not make broad plumbing alterations without an agreed scope.
Avoid pressure experiments
Do not fit a pump or adjust a pressure control based only on a weak tap; the system may not be designed for it, and incorrect changes can create leaks or affect other outlets. Avoid using tools on seized valves or taking apart a mixer while water is live. If you know the normal isolation valve and it is safe to reach, it may be useful in a leak emergency, but do not enter a wet electrical area. We can advise on practical next steps after seeing the system. If a gas smell occurs, follow the emergency procedure, not a routine appointment.
Arrange a flow assessment
Book online and tell us which hot outlets are affected, whether cold flow is normal, whether the property has a cylinder and when the change began. If known, share the type of shower or tap without dismantling it. The booking fee is paid when booking. The hourly labour rate depends on how soon the visit is needed; we provide the full cost for approval before work begins. Parts and materials may be quoted separately. The visit assesses the reported flow issue and the agreed accessible scope; larger pipework changes can be planned separately.
Book online and describe the difference between hot and cold flow at the affected outlets to help focus the assessment.
How the price works
We charge a booking fee to hold your slot, then an hourly rate for the work itself. The fee changes with how soon you need us; the hourly rate changes with the slot you choose. You approve the price before we start, so there is no surprise on the invoice.

We diagnose on site
The engineer confirms the cause and tells you what the job involves and how long it should take.
You approve, we work
Nothing goes ahead until you agree the price. Labour is then charged per hour at your slot rate.
A weaker stream from a hot tap can be frustrating, but it may reflect a local outlet, a restriction, a system design or a change affecting both hot and cold supplies. We compare the symptoms and inspect accessible water-side components before recommending work. We do not promise a pressure increase without identifying the cause.
What our customers say about our heating & radiators service
5 out of 5 from 10 reviews
Fast, tidy and friendly
Booked the £220 booking-fee slot on Tuesday and got a message confirming the time the same morning. The cause was explained, the price agreed before any work started, and the job was done in about 46 minutes. Clean and tidy when they left.
Job: No Heating from Boiler
Turned up when they said
What I appreciated was being told what was actually wrong before anyone started. Sorted in under 46 minutes and the invoice matched the quote to the penny.
Job: Expansion Vessel Fault
Exactly what was quoted
I had put off sorting this for months because I expected a runaround. Quoted the booking fee plus hourly rate upfront, stuck to it, and actually found the underlying cause rather than just clearing the symptom. Worked neatly and hoovered up afterwards.
Job: Airlock in Hot Water System

Questions people ask about low hot water pressure
Straight answers to the things customers ask most often before booking.
Can I clean a shower head before booking?
If the head is designed to detach easily and the manufacturer permits cleaning, that may help with a local blockage. Do not force fittings or dismantle live plumbing.
What do you check for weak hot flow?
We compare affected outlets and cold flow, identify the system arrangement, and assess accessible valves, cylinder connections and pipework. We explain any access or design limits.
Will you install a booster pump to raise pressure?
Not without establishing that the system is suitable and identifying the cause. We assess first and only propose work within an agreed, appropriate scope.
Why is cold flow stronger than hot flow?
Hot water may travel through a different route or storage arrangement, and a local restriction can affect it. The system design and outlet comparison help explain the difference.
What will it cost to investigate?
The booking fee is paid when booking, and the hourly labour rate depends on how soon you need the visit. We quote the full cost for approval before work starts; parts or materials can be quoted separately.
