Why mounts come loose
Looseness has causes, and finding the cause is the job. The common ones: fixings that were never tightened fully and have worked free under small repeated loads; plugs or anchors that were wrong for the wall and are slowly crushing or spinning in their holes; a wall substrate that cannot really carry the load, such as a heavy screen on plasterboard with nothing solid behind it; or the bracket's own joints and pivot bolts loosening with use. Each points to a different repair, and tightening the visible screw without understanding the cause is how a loose mount becomes a fallen one.
Diagnosing the movement
We start by characterising the movement: where does it shift from, when did you first notice, does it creak or click? Then we examine the mount stage by stage — the joints and arms for play, the screen-to-bracket connection, the wall plate, and finally the wall itself. We look for the signs that tell the story: dust trickling from a fixing hole, a plate that pivots when pushed, plaster cracks radiating from the fixings, or a board that flexes behind the plate. Where the screen needs to come off for a proper look, we do it carefully and plan the lift; for larger screens we may ask you to arrange a second pair of hands, which we flag when booking.
Re-fixing properly
Once we know why, the repair follows. Loose but sound fixings get re-torqued to the point the manufacturer specifies. Failed plugs or anchors are replaced with the right type for the wall — and not simply pushed back into the same hole if that hole is the problem; a chewed or oversized hole needs making good or a relocated fixing. Joints that have lost tension are re-tightened or, if worn out, flagged for replacement. And every repair ends the same way: a pull-check on the plate, then the screen, before we are satisfied.
When the wall is the real problem
Sometimes the loose mount is the messenger. A heavy screen on a wall that cannot carry it will not stay fixed no matter how often it is tightened, and that is a conversation, not a repair. We assess the substrate — what it is made of, whether the fixings are landing in solid material or the frame behind plasterboard, and what may be hidden behind the surface where new fixings would go. A detector helps narrow down concealed pipes and cables, but no scan guarantees what is hidden, so we verify before drilling and never drill blind. If the wall needs reinforcement before it can carry the screen, we will explain the options and quote the work separately rather than tighten things and wish you luck.
What we will not do
We will not re-tighten a mount we believe is unsafe and walk away. If the honest answer is that the mount needs a new bracket, a different wall or a repair we cannot complete in one visit, we will say so, make the setup safe in the meantime — which may mean taking the screen down to a stand — and let you decide the next step. A loose mount caught early is cheap to fix; one argued with for months is not.
Aftercare
After a proper re-fix, check the mount now and then in the first weeks: a plate that stays put is the sign all is well, and any renewed movement is worth an immediate look. If the cause was the wall rather than the fixings, watch the wall too — new dust or cracks around the fixings mean the problem is not finished. And resist the temptation to keep nudging screws tighter yourself; if it loosens twice, it needs diagnosis, not another half-turn.
Booking
Same-day slots may be available for a mount that feels urgent, and planned visits are easy to arrange. You pay a booking fee on booking, labour is charged hourly at a rate that depends on how soon you need the visit, and the full cost is quoted and approved before work starts. Replacement fixings, filler or a new bracket are identified and quoted separately as materials.
How the price works
We charge a booking fee to hold your slot, then an hourly rate for the work itself. The fee changes with how soon you need us; the hourly rate changes with the slot you choose. You approve the price before we start, so there is no surprise on the invoice.

We diagnose on site
The engineer confirms the cause and tells you what the job involves and how long it should take.
You approve, we work
Nothing goes ahead until you agree the price. Labour is then charged per hour at your slot rate.
A loose mount is a warning, not a nuisance. Screens are heavy, leverage is unkind to weak fixings, and a mount that shifts will keep shifting until something gives. We diagnose why it loosened, re-fix it properly and make sure the wall behind is up to the job.

Questions people ask about loose tv mount fixing
Straight answers to the things customers ask most often before booking.
Can I just tighten the screws myself?
You can tighten them once — but if the mount has loosened, something caused that, and the cause is rarely the screw itself. Wrong anchors, a weak substrate or worn joints keep working loose no matter how often they are tightened. If it loosens twice, get the cause diagnosed rather than playing whack-a-mole with a spanner.
What do you check on a loose mount?
We work through the assembly: play in the bracket joints, the screen-to-bracket fixings, the wall plate and the wall around it. We look for dust or cracks from the fixing holes, check whether the anchors suit the wall, and assess whether the substrate can carry the screen at all before re-fixing.
Is a loose mount dangerous?
It deserves respect. A shifting mount puts loads on fixings they were not designed for, and each movement weakens the grip a little more. The risk depends on the wall, the screen weight and how far the movement has gone — which is exactly why we diagnose rather than guess. Caught early, it is a small repair; left alone, it can end in a damaged screen or worse.
Will you need to take the TV down?
Often not — much can be checked with the screen in place. If the wall plate needs re-anchoring properly, or we need to see behind the bracket, lifting the screen off is safer and more thorough. For a large screen that may mean a second pair of hands, which we would flag when you book.
How much does a loose mount repair cost?
You pay a booking fee on booking, and hourly labour at a rate that depends on how soon you need the visit. We diagnose first, quote the full repair and you approve it before work starts. Replacement anchors, filler or a new bracket are identified and quoted separately as materials.
