Same-day overgrown garden

Urgent jobs can often be booked for today. Ask when you book and we will confirm the slot before you pay anything.

Birmingham, Coventry, Dorridge and 12 more across the West Midlands.

An overgrown garden is one of the most common calls we get in the West Midlands, and it is rarely anyone's fault. Life gets busy, a wet summer doubles the growth, a hedge quietly becomes a wall and bramble creeps in from the fence line. What starts as a weekend tidy-up becomes a job that needs real time, proper tools and a plan. That is exactly what this visit is for.

What we look at when we arrive

Every overgrown garden is different, so we start by walking the whole plot with you. We look at what has grown where, which plants are worth saving and which have given up, how tall and dense the growth is, and what access is like for getting tools and waste in and out. We also check for hazards hiding in the growth — trip hazards, broken glass, old fencing wire, wasp nests and, in the nesting season, birds sheltering in dense shrubs and hedges. If we find an active nest, that area stays untouched until the birds have fledged, and we plan around it rather than through it.

Agreeing the plan before the work starts

Once we have seen the plot, we talk it through: what stays, what goes, how much of it we can realistically do in a day and what you want done with the waste. Green waste disposal is always agreed in advance — some customers keep the cuttings for compost, others want it all taken away, and that changes how we price and plan the job. Because labour is charged hourly, a genuinely overgrown plot may need more than one visit; we would rather tell you that honestly up front than rush the work and leave the garden worse than we found it.

Cutting back, clearing and restoring

The work itself is usually a mix of strimming and mowing long grass back to a manageable height — never scalped in one go, as that can finish off a struggling lawn — cutting back and reducing overgrown shrubs, pulling or digging out weeds, clearing paths and edges, and removing dead or unwanted plants. Bramble and ivy get treated with patience: we cut them back to the stump or the roots rather than just chopping the visible growth, or they will be back within weeks. By the end of a day's work the garden should look like a garden again, with the shape of the beds and paths visible and space to move around.

Being honest about the limits

A few things are worth saying plainly. We do not promise results from weedkillers or chemicals — where we use any treatment at all, we explain what it can and cannot do, and stubborn weeds like bindweed or ground elder often need repeat visits rather than one dramatic clear-out. Timing matters too: cutting some shrubs back hard at the wrong time of year can cost you next year's flowers, so we time our cuts to the plant and the season, even if that means leaving something until later. And if the garden is very large, heavily wooded or full of trees needing work at height, we will say so and discuss whether a specialist is the better call.

Keeping it that way

A one-off clearance is a great reset, but it is not a promise that the garden stays tidy. Some customers book us once and take it from there; others move straight onto a light regular maintenance visit every few weeks, which is nearly always easier and cheaper than letting it run wild again. We will tell you honestly which we think suits your garden, and you decide.

How to book

You can book by phone or through the website, and it helps if you can tell us roughly the size of the garden, what the main problems are, whether there is side or rear access for wheelbarrows, and whether you want the waste taken away. You pay a booking fee when you book, labour is charged hourly at a rate that depends on how soon you need the visit, and the full cost is quoted and approved before any work starts. Then we get on with turning the jungle back into a garden.

How the price works

We charge a booking fee to hold your slot, then an hourly rate for the work itself. The fee changes with how soon you need us; the hourly rate changes with the slot you choose. You approve the price before we start, so there is no surprise on the invoice.

1

Book the slot

Choose the window that suits you and pay the booking fee. That holds your place in the diary.

2

We diagnose on site

The engineer confirms the cause and tells you what the job involves and how long it should take.

3

You approve, we work

Nothing goes ahead until you agree the price. Labour is then charged per hour at your slot rate.

A garden that has got away from you can feel like a mountain, whether it is after a busy year, an illness, a house move or simply years of steady growth. There is no judgement in this job — only a practical plan. We come out, see what you actually have, and agree with you what gets cut, what gets kept and what happens to everything we take away.

What our customers say about our outdoor & exterior service

4.6 out of 5 from 10 reviews

Sorted the same day

Rang in the morning and they got to us in Wolverhampton by early afternoon. Very clear about what needed doing, what it would cost and what could wait. No pressure to add extras. Exactly the sort of tradesperson you want.

Job: Uneven Shed Base

Turned up when they said

Turned up in the window they promised, walked me through the options (turns out the previous installer had left the pipework awkward to get to), then cracked on. Everything was tested before they left. No mess, no drama, no surprise on the bill.

Job: Water-Damaged Patio

Good work, poor communication

Work itself was fine and tidy. Communication beforehand was patchy — I did not get the confirmation message and had to ring to check the slot. Would still use again.

Job: Sinking Driveway

Questions people ask about overgrown garden

Straight answers to the things customers ask most often before booking.

Could I clear an overgrown garden myself?

You can, and plenty of people do, but a genuinely overgrown plot usually takes a full weekend per section, decent tools and somewhere to put a small mountain of waste. Heavy cutting, ladder work and stubborn roots are where most DIY efforts come unstuck. We bring the tools, the time and the waste plan so you do not have to.

What actually happens on the first visit?

We walk the garden with you, assess the growth, access and hazards, and agree a plan for the day. If the scope is clear we usually start work the same visit, working hour by hour. If the job is bigger than a day, we agree the stages and schedule the next session before we leave.

What if there are nesting birds or hazards hidden in the growth?

We check before cutting anything dense, and an active nest means that area is left alone until the birds have fledged — the law protects nesting birds and so do we. Hidden hazards like buried wire, glass or wasp nests change the plan too, and we will point them out rather than plough through.

Will you take all the cuttings and waste away with you?

Whatever you prefer, agreed before we start. Some customers keep cuttings for compost or a bonfire pile where permitted, others want everything removed. Because disposal costs time and money, it is part of the quote we agree with you in advance, so there are no surprises when the garden is clear.

How much will it cost to sort my garden out?

You pay a booking fee when you book, and labour is charged hourly at a rate that depends on how soon you need us. The full cost of the agreed work is quoted and approved before we start, so nothing happens before you have signed off, and any materials or disposal arrangements are quoted separately on top.
