An oven installation is one of those jobs where the difference between done and done properly only becomes obvious later: a door that fouls a drawer, a plug arrangement that does not match the supply, or a cooker crammed against its own connections. Doing it right starts before the appliance is unpacked, with checks that prevent the common failures. This page sets out how we approach it.
First, confirm what you have bought
The fuel type determines the scope. An electric oven, whether plug-in or hard-wired, is work we can carry out fully within our competence, covering the supply, connection, positioning and testing. A gas oven, or the gas half of a dual-fuel cooker, involves a gas connection that only a Gas Safe registered engineer may make, and we are not Gas Safe registered; we never carry out gas work. For those, we would handle what is safely ours and arrange the gas connection through a trusted Gas Safe partner we work closely with, so the installation completes properly rather than halfway.
What we check before the oven goes in
We confirm the supply: is the existing cooker point or socket suitable for the new appliance's rating, is the isolator in reach, and does the cable or circuit match what the manufacturer requires? We check the aperture dimensions against the oven's installation spec, including depth, ventilation gaps and the door swing, along with access through the house, since a wide oven and a narrow hallway meet eventually. We inspect the existing services: is the old appliance's connection safe, is the space clean and dry, and is anything nearby, such as hobs or pipes, affected by the swap? These checks are what turn an installation into a durable one.
The installation itself
For an electric oven we make the connection as the manufacturer specifies, secure the appliance in the housing with the correct fixings, set the door and furniture, and confirm the appliance sits level and free. We then test it: does it power up, do the controls respond, does it heat, does the door close and seal, and do the lights and fan run as they should? We run through the first-use notes, including the initial-burn smell most new ovens produce, and leave you with the manual and our summary of what was done.
Honest limits and staged work
If the supply turns out to need attention, such as an unsuitable isolator or a circuit that does not match the appliance, we will explain what is needed and quote that work separately rather than improvising. If parts of the job involve gas, the Gas Safe partner quotes and performs that portion directly. Some installations, particularly where cabinetry or electrics need modification, may need a second visit, and we will say so at the quoting stage rather than promising a single appointment that cannot cover it.
What we need from you
The oven's make and model, its fuel type and rating, whether it is replacing a like-for-like appliance or going into a new space, and photos of the existing connection and aperture if you can send them. Those details let us quote accurately and arrive with the right equipment rather than discovering problems on your doorstep.
Booking your installation
Contact us with your postcode, the oven details above, and your preferred timing. We will confirm what the visit covers, carry out the checks and installation properly, and test everything before we leave. Same-day availability sometimes exists but is never promised, and we will always tell you honestly what we can offer.
If you are replacing an older oven, mention anything unusual about the old installation, such as an extension lead, a plug adapter or a connection you are unsure of. We will check those properly as part of the visit rather than assuming they are fine.
How the price works
We charge a booking fee to hold your slot, then an hourly rate for the work itself. The fee changes with how soon you need us; the hourly rate changes with the slot you choose. You approve the price before we start, so there is no surprise on the invoice.

We diagnose on site
The engineer confirms the cause and tells you what the job involves and how long it should take.
You approve, we work
Nothing goes ahead until you agree the price. Labour is then charged per hour at your slot rate.
A new oven only performs as well as its installation, and the work is more than sliding it into a gap. Supply compatibility, dimensions, access, ventilation and safe connections all need checking first. Our visit covers all of it for an electric oven, with any gas connection work referred to a trusted Gas Safe partner, and we leave you with an oven that has been properly tested.

Job: Tumble Dryer Not Starting Cycle
Good job, slightly late
Solid work. Hourly rate feels fair for the amount of work involved and everything was tested before they left. Would book again.
Job: Toaster Not Working
No mess left behind
Really straightforward. It had been bothering us for weeks; diagnosed properly, fixed the same visit, and the price was exactly what was explained when booking. Can not fault it.

Questions people ask about oven installation
Straight answers to the things customers ask most often before booking.
Can you install a gas oven for me?
We cannot make or alter any gas connection, as gas work requires Gas Safe registration that we do not hold. For a gas oven we can handle safely non-gas aspects and arrange the connection and commissioning through a trusted Gas Safe registered engineer we work closely with, who quotes that work directly.
What will you check before installing my electric oven?
The supply and isolator against the appliance's rating, the aperture dimensions and ventilation, access through the property, and the condition of existing connections. Any necessary additional work is quoted separately and approved by you before it is done.
Does the price include everything, like a new cable or socket?
The installation is quoted upfront, and if the checks reveal that extra work is needed, such as a different isolator or circuit adjustment, we explain it and quote it separately before proceeding. Nothing is added to your bill without your approval.
My new oven smells when I first used it. Is that normal?
Usually yes; new ovens commonly produce a smell on first heats as protective coatings burn off, and the manual typically says to ventilate during initial use. We will go through the first-use notes with you. A persistent acrid or electrical smell is different and worth reporting.
How is installation priced?
The booking fee is paid when you book, and the hourly labour rate depends on how soon you need the visit, as shorter notice costs more. We quote the defined installation work, and anything beyond it is quoted and approved separately before it starts, with parts identified and priced on their own.
