A CCTV system is only as good as its installation. Cameras in the wrong places, cables run badly, recorders hidden where they overheat and settings nobody understands — these turn expensive equipment into a source of frustration. A proper installation is planned around your property and what you actually want to see, and that planning is the most valuable part of the job.
Planning before drilling
Before we fit anything we walk the property with you and agree what matters: entrances, driveways, boundaries, vulnerable areas, and what you want the footage to show — a person, a vehicle, a gate. Camera positions follow from that, balancing coverage against practicalities: mounting height, the reach of infrared at night, avoiding views that look straight into neighbours' property or over public space, and access for future maintenance. We also plan the cable routes and where the recorder will live, because a recorder needs ventilation, sensible access and protection from heat, damp and casual tampering. The agreed scope — which cameras, which routes, what gets configured — is what we quote, so you approve a defined job rather than an open-ended one.
The installation day itself
The visit is a defined installation day of about 300 minutes, covering the scope agreed in your quote. We mount cameras at the agreed positions, run and secure cabling tidily along the routes you approved, and connect everything to the recorder and power. We take care with your property — sealing wall penetrations, protecting finishes and clearing up as we go. Once the hardware is in, we configure the system properly: recording settings, motion detection, night mode, image quality, retention and overwrite behaviour, and remote viewing on your own phones if you want it. We test every camera's picture, verify recordings save and play back, and check night performance after dark or explain honestly what it will look like.
Using your cameras lawfully and considerately
This matters from day one, not as an afterthought. Recordings from your system are personal data, and you, as the owner, are responsible for using them lawfully and considerately. In practice that means positioning cameras to cover your own property and boundaries, and avoiding unnecessarily filming your neighbours' homes, gardens or public space such as pavements and roads — we will flag any proposed position that reaches beyond your boundary and discuss alternatives. Footage should be retained for a sensible period rather than hoarded, and shared only appropriately — for example with the police if they request it in connection with an incident. We fit and configure the equipment and will always advise on placement from a practical standpoint, but we do not provide legal advice.
What an installation does and does not promise
CCTV deters, detects and records — it does not prevent crime, and we make no claim that it does. It is also not a substitute for good locks, lighting and basic security habits; it works best as part of a sensible whole. We cannot guarantee against faults, weather or the behaviour of third-party apps and broadband services for remote features, and we will say so plainly. What a good installation does give you is a system configured correctly from day one, cabling that will not fail next winter, and footage that actually shows what you fitted it to show.
Aftercare and learning your system
Before we leave we will show you how to use the system: playing back footage, adjusting settings you may want to change, using the app, and recognising the warning signs — beeps, drive icons, offline cameras — that deserve attention rather than being ignored. Keep the lens wipes handy, glance at the playback timeline weekly, and mention any planned building work or network changes to us, since those are what most often disturb a settled installation.
Booking your installation
When you get in touch, tell us your property type, roughly what you want covered, how many cameras you have in mind, and whether you already own equipment or need it supplied. We will agree a scope with you and quote the installation before any work is booked. You pay a booking fee when you book, labour is charged hourly at a rate that depends on how soon you need the visit, and the full cost of the agreed work is quoted and approved before we start, with any equipment quoted separately.
How the price works
We charge a booking fee to hold your slot, then an hourly rate for the work itself. The fee changes with how soon you need us; the hourly rate changes with the slot you choose. You approve the price before we start, so there is no surprise on the invoice.

We diagnose on site
The engineer confirms the cause and tells you what the job involves and how long it should take.
You approve, we work
Nothing goes ahead until you agree the price. Labour is then charged per hour at your slot rate.
A good CCTV installation is decided before anyone drills a hole — which views you need, where cameras go, how cables run and how the system behaves day to day. Our installation visit covers an agreed scope on a defined working day, and we walk you through the finished system before we leave. You get coverage you chose deliberately, not whatever happened to get fitted.

Questions people ask about cctv installation
Straight answers to the things customers ask most often before booking.
Can I install CCTV cameras myself?
Battery-powered consumer cameras are genuinely DIY territory, but a properly cabled multi-camera system involves working at height, drilling and routing cable, mains-powered equipment and configuration that determines whether the system actually works for you. DIY is possible; a professional installation is usually what separates a useful system from a frustrating one.
What happens on the installation day?
We fit the cameras at the positions agreed in the quote, run and secure cabling along approved routes, connect and configure the recorder, set up recording, motion detection and remote viewing, and test every camera including night performance. It is a defined working day covering the agreed scope, and we walk you through the finished system before leaving.
Can my cameras point at the street or my neighbour's drive?
Cameras should cover your own property and avoid unnecessarily filming neighbours' homes or public space, because recordings are personal data and you as the owner are responsible for using them lawfully and considerately. We will flag any position that reaches beyond your boundary and suggest alternatives during planning.
Where should the recorder be located?
Ideally somewhere with ventilation, sensible access for maintenance, and protection from heat, damp and casual disturbance — lofts and cupboards work if they are not sweltering. We will recommend a location during planning, because a recorder in a poor position ages faster and is harder to service.
How is an installation priced?
You pay a booking fee when you book. Labour is charged hourly at a rate that depends on how soon you need the visit. The full cost is quoted and approved before work starts; parts are quoted separately.
