We assess cabinet dimensions, ventilation requirements, access and the appliance’s intended connection before confirming fitting scope. The visit cannot assume cabinet alterations or new electrical work are included. The brand and model number, together with what changed, will help focus the visit.
Check the model and housing together
Built-in microwaves are not interchangeable simply because their front dimensions look similar. Confirm the exact model, specified housing dimensions, ventilation gaps, support requirements and any trim or frame kit listed by the manufacturer. Check that the cabinet is stable, the door will clear adjacent handles and the appliance can be removed for future service. Measure the recess carefully and share those figures before booking. A cabinet that is too tight or blocks airflow may cause overheating, while an unsuitable support can make the unit unstable. Do not cut or modify cabinetry until compatibility is confirmed.
Fitting scope and site readiness
The assessment covers the intended appliance, cabinet opening, accessible supply and manufacturer connection requirements. Customer-supplied appliance and any trim kit or mounting accessories need to be present unless agreed otherwise. If the existing socket is inaccessible, damaged, unsuitable or requires fixed wiring changes, a qualified electrician may be needed; new circuits are not part of ordinary microwave fitting. Cabinet repairs, joinery and structural changes may also require separate work. The engineer can identify these constraints and explain whether the planned fitting is feasible, but major alterations or a second visit should not be presumed included.
Secure fit without blocking service access
Where the housing and supply meet the instructions, fitting can proceed only within the agreed scope. The unit must be supported correctly, level as required and ventilated, with cable routing that does not become trapped or pinched. A successful appearance is not enough if airflow or safe electrical access is compromised. Provide the brand, complete model number, cabinet measurements, photos of the recess and a description of the socket location when booking. The visit estimate is for the defined assessment/fitting scope; extra parts or work are discussed and quoted separately, with approval before proceeding.
## Safe limits for microwave work
Microwaves contain high-voltage components, and the capacitor can retain a dangerous charge even after the appliance has been unplugged. Never open the casing, remove internal covers, probe components or attempt an internal DIY repair. An apparently simple symptom does not make the inside safe. Customer checks should stay with the controls, plug and other user-accessible parts described in the maker’s instructions. Stop use if there is smoke, burning, sparking, shock, a damaged cable or repeated tripping; isolate power only if it is safe, and seek emergency help for active fire.
## Diagnosis before a repair decision
The initial visit is used to understand the symptoms, check accessible condition and identify a sensible next step; a repair is not promised before diagnosis. Keep the brand and model number handy, describe what happened and mention any recent move, spill, impact or power interruption. The engineer will explain the defined work and any limits, including when a fault needs an electrician or another specialist. Parts and materials depend on model compatibility and availability and may be identified and quoted separately. Do not buy parts based on a guess or assume that every fault can be repaired in one visit.
## Price, approval and booking
The price uses a booking fee paid when booking plus an hourly labour rate that depends on how soon you need the visit. The full cost for the proposed work is quoted and you approve it before work starts; there are no invented fixed repair prices here. Any parts, materials or additional work can be identified and quoted separately. Repair or replacement depends on the diagnosis, age and condition of the appliance, the availability of suitable parts and the overall cost. Book online and include the brand, model, symptoms and any error message so the visit can be scoped clearly.
How the price works
We charge a booking fee to hold your slot, then an hourly rate for the work itself. The fee changes with how soon you need us; the hourly rate changes with the slot you choose. You approve the price before we start, so there is no surprise on the invoice.

No. Dimensions, trim, airflow and support differ by model, so confirm the exact instructions before fitting.
How is the price worked out?
A booking fee is paid when booking and hourly labour depends on how soon you need the visit. The full cost is quoted for approval before work starts; extra parts may be quoted separately.
