What a proper installation involves

Good installation is mostly preparation. The space must be wide and deep enough, with the clearance the manufacturer specifies around the back and top so heat can escape — a fridge wedged against a wall runs hot and shortens its own life. The floor must take the weight and stand level. The socket must be a proper dedicated one, not an extension lead, and must be reachable for switching off.

Water-fed models with dispensers or ice makers add a supply connection to check, using the existing accessible supply point and hose arrangements only. For everything else, the work is positioning, levelling, doors, seals and first run.

What happens on the visit

The engineer confirms the dimensions of the space and the appliance, checks access along the route — doorways, turns, stairs — and verifies the socket and its condition. We move the fridge in safely with the right technique and, where agreed, the extra pair of hands for staircases and tight turns.

Once positioned, we level the cabinet with a spirit level and adjust the front feet so the doors close under their own weight, check the doors align and the seals grip all the way round, and leave the manufacturer's specified clearance behind and above. We then power up, let the cabinet reach temperature, and confirm cooling, lights, fans and any dispenser are behaving before we sign it off.

What we need from you

Please clear the route before we arrive — hallways, door mats and obstacles are the main delays — and have the old appliance moved out of the way if one is being replaced; we can discuss that when you book. Have the manufacturer's instructions to hand if you have them, and tell us in advance if the fridge is a large American-style model or the route includes stairs or tight turns, so we come properly prepared. Measure the widest point of the route, including door frames and stair turns, and mention any steps — forewarned, we bring the right approach.

Limits we are upfront about

We work with existing sockets and existing accessible water supply points; we do not install new electrical circuits, and any plumbing beyond connecting to an existing accessible supply point is not part of a standard installation — anything beyond that needs a plumber, which we can discuss. If the chosen location has no suitable socket or clearance, we will tell you at the site check rather than install an appliance into a position that will cause faults. A single appointment may not cover everything on complex jobs; where extra work is identified, it is quoted separately and you approve it before we proceed.

First days after installation

Leave the fridge to settle upright for a few hours if it was transported on its side, load it gradually rather than filling it hot, and give it a day to settle to temperature before judging performance. Do not push it fully back against the wall — keep the rear clearance. If a door will not stay shut or the cabinet seems noisy in the first days, call us; early adjustments are quick.

Booking your installation

Call or use our contact form with the fridge's brand and model, the dimensions of the space and route, whether it is water-fed, and whether an old appliance needs moving. We will confirm the appointment and what the visit covers. A booking fee is paid when booking, the hourly labour rate depends on how soon you need the visit, and the full cost is quoted and approved before any work begins.
